The September issue of Game Informer contains 12 pages of exclusive details and screenshots from Borderlands 2, and outlines the numerous improvements the developer has in store for your return trip to Pandora. Don’t expect just a couple bazillion more guns this time around. Gearbox is introducing new and more diverse environments, smarter and more powerful enemies, and an improved mission system capable of delivering a better story. This and much more will be revealed in the story, as well as our full month of additional online content.

Working at a game studio, you're often working on super-secret projects and dodging requests, inquiries, and sometimes downright pleas to find out what upcoming games are being developed, which is why being able to announce the sequel to the hugely successful and ever-adored Borderlands is so freaking awesome.
Borderlands 2 is headed to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC during our next fiscal year (which begins on April 1st, 2012). Borderlands 2 features all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment tucked into new and unexplored areas of Pandora.
Want to know more? Well, you are in luck! Head over to Game Informer right now to check out this month's cover, featuring Borderlands 2, and see some of the first images from the game.
Want to know even more than that? We're taking Borderlands 2 on the road: You'll be able to get your first look at the game at Gamescom 2011 from August 17th to August 21st and at PAX Prime (Booth #3417) from August 26th to August 28th.
Be sure to also follow 2K Games on Twitter and Facebook for all things Borderlands 2 in the coming months. You should also swing by the 2K Games Forums and the Gearbox Forums to chat it up with other Borderlands fans.

A little odd - especially if still on Pandora - that you can't carry over your character to keep playing from BL1.

From the people who brought you Duke Nukem Forever
I'm hoping that this time around you can build fully customized characters from the ground up, rather than having to choose a canned persona. Other than that, a full clone of the first game featuring new areas is fine with me.

On some of the missions the compass only shows you the general area (all of the gun scavenger hunts are like this). BTW - I would be up for some co-op sometime if you want. My GT is in my sig.

It's safe to say everyone knew it was coming; just don't know when. To this date the best blind buy game I ever did.

I hope the original quartet are featured in this game in some way. As antagonists would be awesome, but I'd be happy with retired quest-givers.

That grass looks promising. I'm hoping the sequel will have a different environmental theme from the desert that dominated the first game.
