Cougar Town -- Season 4 -- Now on TBS
Premieres tonight on TBS. It's not on ABC anymore, they cancelled it and TBS bought the rights.
Synopsis for Blue Sunday:
In the Season 4 premiere, Jules and Grayson are in their first week of marriage, but it's not all wedded bliss for the latter, who has a lot to learn about being Jules' husband. Meanwhile, Bobby tries giving fatherly advice to Travis after he turns 21; and Ellie and Laurie console a depressed Jules when Grayson won't apologize for what he did in her dream. Directed by series star Courteney Cox.
It's a 15 episode season
This is another comedy that doesn't seem to get alot of attention here. Is it because most of you don't find it that funny? For me it has it's moments.
I'm just doing 1 thread considering the lackluster responses/comments from the previous 3 seasons.

They're promoting this waaay too hard.
I would think they would run some of the previous season's episodes instead of endless Big Bang Theory and Family Guy reruns if they had any confidence in the show.

The show and back episodes are no longer on Hulu.com, which ABC co-owns. The home video rights for seasons 1-3 are now with Lionsgate.

They got rights to Cougar Town repeats in the deal, but it could be that they still have to wait until a certain date to begin airing them. I don't know.

Wow.. that was.. unbearable.. ugh.
not even sure why i hated it? extra-superficial, clicheed, plastic surgery? i know that they are some of the good things normally about CT, but wow that did just not work for me.
edit : ok the stinger was fun.. only part that even came close to being funny.

They ALL looked that way. I think the new production company hired new makeup people. I thought Bobby looked especially rough compared to last season. They also seem to have stopped shaving his chest to look like he's in high school on 90210.
It was fine but not the best episode. The funniest was the "coming up this season on Cougar Town..." bit during the closing credits.

Glad to have it back but I have to agree about some of their appearances, Bobby's in particular. As for the episode... I didn't dislike it, but it definitely felt more like an okay mid-season episode than a hyped (for TBS) season premiere.

Agreed. I thought the episode was great. And I could tell that the switch to TBS let them get away with a little more dialogue than previously on ABC, I believe. The part with Ellie saying that she let Andy go to down while on Ambian and trying to figure out why her neck hurt and the bruise on her forehead was funny. I think even more so once Jules told her and she stated she was kind of turned on.
The little nod to the show being gone for a while at the beginning was funny. As was the "next on Cougar Town" bit at the end. And I still love that they are doing the little subtext on the logo shot for the show.
All in all, glad to have it back.

Just caught the Saturday re-air.
I liked it and it made me chuckle in some parts. But, there was really no cohesive story. It felt like Lawrence assembled a bunch of vignettes to create 23 minutes of TV. I agree about Bobby. He looked really strange. BTW, I was surprised to see that Lawrence wrote this episode and was still credited as an EP. When TBS originally picked it up, he said he was leaving as showrunner and only staying on as a consultant.
I liked the opening graphic:
"Welcome back to Cougar Town: Thanks TBS, Now can we curse on TV?"
Guess they are moving forward with trying to hook up Travis and Laurie. They mentioned that Travis is 21, but have they ever said how old Laurie is supposed to be? In her 30's I assume?
at the scenes from upcoming episodes of Cougar Town. Liked the Michelle Williams cameo.

I caught up with Saturday night's re-air as well. Not a great season opener, but got a few chuckles. The Michelle Williams bit was pretty funny.

Supposedly there is a "naked" episode coming up. Courtney Cox claims she will be exposed in every scene she is in.

Re: Cougar Town -- Season 4 -- Now on TBS
I conceived of her as about 25 at show start, so I'm guessing we're talking like 28 if Trav is now 21 (he was in high school at show start right?). I'd put Jules at roughly 38 and Ellie at maybe 42. That would be my very rough guesses.

I find it funny how the most recent episode made extensive use of the pseudonym "Ron Mexico" with nary a Mike Vick reference.

Okay so in the episode Grayson and Jules were playing Scrabble without the board... is that a thing? I thought the real trick to Scrabble was putting big value letters on bonus spaces (triple letter, double word, etc.). Just a minor thing, but it made no sense to whip out the tiles and ignore the board.

Something has felt off about this season for me - I used to LOVE this show, now I just sort of find it OK.

Unsurprisingly, this is pulling almost the exact same ratings it was getting on ABC

Been behind on this, but got caught up with the last 5 episodes last night.
Enjoyed the last one with Andy cashing in on the sex coupons with Ellie. If I'm not mistaken that was also the one that Grayson got hit in the face during street hockey.
The episode with Bobby opening up the burger truck was funny with Ellie being the trash talking bitch.
Love Busy Phillips. Plays the airhead persona perfectly.
Btw, what is up with Courteney Cox and the red bras? I've noticed in every episode that she's wearing those.

I bailed. Got bored. I have a lot on Tuesdays. Maybe I'll catch it over the summer.
