hrm. So i'm on XBOX Live and I see something about EX2. An Extended Director's Cut, up for viewing. Ok. Anyone know anything about this? You click on it it just shows EX2, EX2 w/ some bonus special feature, special feature, special feature, EX1 Extended Cut, and the regular EX1.
It just shows 1hr and 42 mins for EX2. That's the TC time. Hrm...

Rented this, and it was the garbage that I was expecting. The first thing that needs to happen is finding a new writer. I understand that The Expendables franchise is Stallone's baby, but his writing is just awful. The one liners in this movie are worse than ever. Hire Shane Black for fuck's sake.
I didn't know Scott Adkins had landed a role in this, so I was pleasantly surprised to see him. Big fan. He is as good at portraying a villain as he is a hero as any action star today.
The action was OK. Another overdose of CGI blood, but at least it was better done than the first one. The fight scene set in the church with Statham was pretty cool. I guess the action choreography was a step up.
Anyway there are worse ways to spend 95 minutes but this is the first and only time I'll see this film. I'll continue to hold out hope that maybe the next film in the series is done right.

John Hyams. Sly needs John Hyams. What he did for Universal Soldier is what Sly needs for The Expendables.
I did very much love EX2's intro though. Sadly...the rest of the film is meh.

Watched the Blu-Ray the other night and immediately noticed how cleaner the picture was than in theater. There was a lot of grain in the theater, that was not there on the Blu. Anyone else notice this?

finally rented this
pretty good for being an over the top exaggeration of over the top 80s action flicks
Arnold's appearance in a Total Recall-esque mining vehicle was good for a laugh. loved it when Chuck showed up and made one of the internet jokes about the snake dying after biting him
and referencing that fact that Dolph actually does have a chemical engineering degree

I thought this was pretty awful.
Any of the actors who have shown in the past that they can act, we're brought right down to the level of the "actors" in this movie who clearly can't act.
And this entire movie was either in a haze or backlighting. It must have been used to hide how old everyone is.
I didn't think it could get worse than the first one.
