I have the Harry Potter movies on dvd and blu-ray. The first five are dvd and the last 3 are blu-ray. I do have the 3rd on on blu-ray, too. At some point, I'm going to get the first 3 in those Ultimate Editions, as those are my favourites. Not having them all the same doesn't really bother me all that much. I do have the 3 X-Men movies and the Wolverine movie. The X-Men movies are in a box set, but Wolverine is by it's self. That bugs me a bit.

I have the same issue. I already had the first four Harry Potter movies on DVD when I got a Blu-Ray player. I have the rest in the newer format. I have a few TV series in different formats. I have the last seasons of Pushing Daisies and 24 on BR while the rest of the series is on DVD. It doesn't really bug me since the way I store my collection masks most of these discrepancies in size.

I've got Saw 1-3 on standard dvd and and parts 4-6 on blu which is a little annoying. There's a few other cases like Hellboy where I have the first on SD and the second on blu, but I think it doesn't bother me as much when it's a case of just one sequel instead of a larger series.

There's also the case where I have Vacancy on blu and the sequel on SD since they didn't release it in HD which kind of baffles me, but I haven't watched either yet so I don't know if I should care.

I had A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 in a snap case and all the others were in Keep cases. I didn't like it at all. I won a second copy off eBay that turned out to be a snap case (they had a pic of the Keep case) then I won a third copy, with Keep case but it was from Canada & had French & English on it plus it was a different size so it didn't look right either. The 4th copy was just right.

First four seasons on Smallville on SD, one on HD DVD, and the rest on Blu. Yes, it's annoying since I can't replace #5 with a high-def format.

Bothered me that I had the 3-Disc Director's Cut of Hellboy but only the single disc edition of Hellboy II. Resolved that just recently when I was finally able to pick up the 3-Disc SE of Hellboy II for a good price.

Bothers me that I have the 2-Disc CE of Predator but only the single disc edition of Predator 2. One day I'll fix that.

Bothers me that I have the DE/SE versions of Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3, but that they never made an SE of Afterlife.

Doesn't bother me enough, I guess. I'm still putting together the Halloween series piece-meal, and just bought a used copy of Halloween III the Goodtimes Snapper Case in non-anamorphic widescreen, to go with the Extended for Television version of Halloween and the no-frills edition of Halloween II.

Actually, it does bother me.

For me, no problem at all to assemble series from disparate editions. I own them to watch them, not for any real or imagined collectible value. The Bond movies are a good example.

I try to keep my "series" in the same format.

For example, I started buying "Saw" on DVD, and have continued to do so despite their availability on blu-ray. At some point in the future I might upgrade the series, especially if they do some kind of full set, but I'm not in any hurry.

I also have Halloween 1-7 on DVD and Halloween (original) on blu-ray. That's good enough for me since I don't really care enough about the sequels to bother upgrading them to blu-ray.

One exception is that I have the original Scream 4-disc boxed set (1-3, plus bonus DVD) and Scre4m on blu-ray. Might end up getting the Scream trilogy on blu-ray since it can be had fairly cheap and I also need Scream in anamorphic widescreen.

I already had Nightmare on Elm Street 1 and Freddy's Dead the Final Nightmare on DVD but re-bought both of them with the A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection set which has films 1-7 on Blu Ray. I'm happy to now have them all in one set and in the same format but if I didn't, it wouldn't bother me that much.

The Monkees

I have Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (6), Halloween H20 (7) and Halloween Resurrection (8) on Blu-Ray, yet Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers are all on DVD.

That doesn't bother me, however when I finish a TV series on a different format (i.e. 24) that does kind of bother me.

There's a double feature of II and III with 16x9 transfers of each that I see all the time pretty cheap.

Yes, it bothers me which is why I try not to do it. My general rule of thumb is to go with the first Special Edition release of any movie or series.

I'm in the process of completing my bond collection, grabbing films as I can so far every film I have is a 2 disc collectors edition, except for goldeneye which irks me only because it's my favorite film. Usually to do a series of films though I will try to grab box sets or multi-film packs. It generally doesn't bother me if the movies that I manage to collect all of are from different releases although I try to stick to one format per series when possible.

I bought 3 of the double packs for Harry Potter (1-6)
I bought the DVD of The Deathly Hallows, for some reason I decided to buy Deathly Hallows 2 on Blu-Ray. It feels really weird having the 2nd one on Blu-Ray since I have my DVDs on different shelves.

Parts 1 - 3 on BD, Parts 4-8 Original Widescreen Collection DVDs, 2009 Remake on BD. Have never much cared for Jason Goes to Hell or Jason X, will pick up if I find them cheap enough used to complete series.

Nightmare on Elm St.
Parts 1 - 3 on BD, Part 1-7 via Nightmare on Elm Street Collection DVD, Freddy vs Jason on BD. Again, not a huge fan of the remake, but if I can grab it cheap enough used someday I'll grab it.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service on single disc DVD, Casino Royale SE and Quantum of Solace on BD. On the fence about upcoming Bond 50 Collection.

The Man with the Golden Doujinshi

My biggest issue is when a film is in some odd type of case that doesn't contain the entire series. One of the worst offenders in my collection is this http://www.amazon.com/Halloween-30th...loween+box+set

Not only does it contain some movies from the series, it's not a sequential series of the titles and it's a mix of DVD and Blu-ray. I keep my DVDs and blu-rays segregated, so this guy floats on top of a shelf, since it doesn't really fit anywhere. Then I also have a blu-ray of parts 6/7/8.

The Halloween series is easily the most mixed up out of all the series I own.

I've considered replacing my Harry Potter years 1-5 DVDs with the 1-5 Bluray boxset because we started buying Blu with #6, but I can't find if all the extras from the DVDs are included on that Blu box. Anyone know?
