How to remove Best Buy price tag label off cardboard slipcover
How do people remove Best Buy's price tag/label off a cardboard slipcover?
I tried removing a Best Buy label off the plastic wrap on another item, to see how easily (or not) the tag comes off. The label basically shredded.

I use the hair dryer method. I did try Goo Gone in the past, but I found out that if something's varnished it'll remove that as well.

Re: How to remove Best Buy price tag label off cardboard slipcover
Depending on what kind of packaging the sticker is on, I use Canola oil or vegetable oil to remove the goo. Just happened yesterday. I got a Disney Treasures tin set and when I pulled the security stickers off there were several spots of gunk that wouldn't come off no matter how hard I tried. So, I remembered an episode of Ghostwriter where they killed a monster made of bubblegum with vegetable oil. I got some out and dabbed it on a rag and lightly scratched the sticky spots. It came off right away. But I don't know. Oil would probably wreck a cardboard slipcover.

Another trick to try if you have already peeled the sticker and there is gunk left behind is to use the sticker that you just peeled off and dab it on the gunk. Usually the residue will cling to the peeled sticker after a few dabs.

I tried this based on a suggestion on this board, and I now swear by it for every sticker that I need to remove. It's such a simple solution that really works!

Sure, peeling it away from a plastic wrapper the BBy sticker may shred but when it is attached to a glossy slipcover I have found them to peel off quite easily.

Don't buy any discs that are packaged like this (no shrinkwrap on the slipcover) when the store puts tags on them- it'll hopefully tell the studios to stop shipping slipcovers with no shrinkwrap over them, and/or stores to stop putting tags on them! My rule is if a disc has a bare slipcover and the store has stuck anything on it, I don't buy it.

It all depends on what kind of sticker it is. Some stickers come off almost as easy as a colorform, while others are held on with atomic strength glue. It also helps, as it's been said, if the slipcover is shiny.

I think Best Buy changed its pricing stickers sometime in the past 6 months. The newer stickers are smoother and easier to peel off a slipcover, when you can pry up one corner. The older stickers tended to tear into pieces more. The older stickers have larger, bolder print and more text on them.

They must have went back to them for Rio 3D, Narnia 3D and Ice Age 3 3D because I just spent a long, long time trying to get those stickers off. Even my usual method of using the sticker to remove the sticker residue failed.

I pee on it. Urine is a natural exfoliant and removes even the stubborn of stickers without even a nick to be seen.

Just bought Rise of the Planet of the Apes at WorstBuy, had their price sticker on the cardboard slipcover, the cover is not glossy. Used the hair dryer to get the part of the sticker that wouldn't come off by peeling, it came off but left a sticky residue behind. You can't see it but it's going to stick to whatever DVD it sits beside on the shelf. Can't use Goo Gone because it's not a glossy slipcover and that'll just ruin it. Stupid bastards... -kd5-

Re: How to remove Best Buy price tag label off cardboard slipcover
Because they had it on sale for $9.99, and with a $5 coupon I printed from coupons.com, I got it for $5.66 total. But just because I got it for so cheap, doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to bitch about sticker residue on the slipcover... -kd5-

Bc it was on sale! Thats always a good reason to buy something. Plus I had over $50 in gift card credit
How did you get it for $5.66? The movie is on sale this week for $14.99 and coupon brings it down to $9.99

What about lenticular slip covers. I got Harry Potter DH P1 and P2 3D and they have the big BB yellow stickers on them. Is goo gone or the hairdryer my best option?

If that doesn't work (or if most of the adhesive from the sticker gets stuck on the case ...which happens sometimes for me), use a small piece of duct tape and dab off the adhesive residue with it. Surprisingly enough, I've never had issues with this method on any situation.
