Flight: Live-action Zemeckis w/ Denzel Washington - 11/2/12

I thought there was a thread for this already, but couldn't find it. They put out the trailer today and I think it looks good.

Thankful that Zemeckis isn't doing motion capture and Denzel isn't doing Tony Scott or a similar role that has him growl, "I'm already in your head!". Plus after seeing some of the plane crash clips in the trailer, I bet that will be pretty intense on the big screen. I've missed live-action Zemeckis, so I'm hoping for the best.

I'll be damned...I haven't wanted to see Zemeckis film since...Cast Away. Love Washington doing something a bit different. He plays a regular man (and what issues he may have) really well.

I miss the Castaway Zemeckis. So this is awesome.

I think it's safe to say that the plane crash technicalities were all combed through. But the trailer had a few goofy moments that remind me of those crazy "House" medical stories.

This looks decent. I look forward to the second trailer which will undoubtedly spoil the rest of the plot and likely include the ending shot.

Hmmm. Looks interesting. Halfway through I was wondering how they could make a whole movie about a plane that has a problem and the pilot makes a miraculous landing. That would be about 30 minutes tops, unless there was 90 minutes of fluff.

Interesting premise and I like just about everything Denzel does.

Re: Flight: Live-action Zemeckis w/ Denzel Washington - 11/2/12

I don't watch TV. It takes a lot to make me watch a show. I finally watched The Wire after it ended, simply amaizng. Love the episode where the word "fuck" is used in such wondrous manners. Still have no real interest in The Sopranos after whatever episodes I saw. Mad Men is amazing. Breaking Bad is great.

It takes certain elements to attract me to a show..and even w/ that..I'll probably watch it later on. I have a stack of movies I still need to watch....TV shows come 2nd..a fucking far away 2nd place.

If Washington and Cheadle are in it, I'll be there on opening day.

After watching the trailer, I'm guessing
Spoiler:
he's not who really landed that plane.

He ain't alone (and I'm not homeless). I tried to watch the show a few times but found it completely uninteresting.

House is "based on medical fact". It's slightly more "real" than The Human Centipede. You know, there's some disease from the Congo, that's going to kill some dude, and the doctor is able to turn someone's nutsack into a beating heart.

Okay, I never watched a minute of the show. But I hear these things.

Denzel rolling the plane or whatever seemed kind of goofy. But I bet Zemeckis makes it work.

You're thinking maybe...?

Spoiler:

Watching the trailer again, I am leery about John Goodman who seems like a loud, boisterous hippie-type guy? A cross between Walter and The Dude? I guess he could pull it off, but it seems like he could be obnoxious. I mean, he was obnoxious as hell in 'Lebowski', but the dialogue and his delivery were sublime. I don't see the same kind of thing coming from this.

I don't typically see movies like this in theaters but it looks good. Just surprised it's a Zemeckis movie and really surprised Denzel is doing something not with Tony Scott.

I'm a huge fan of NTSB/plane crash stuff (Mayday/Air Crash Investigations on Nat Geo), so this is a must see for me.

This looks pretty decent if you ask me. I like a lot of Zemeckis' films but the trend he's been on lately with the animated features haven't been that great. Maybe this will be a return to form for him.

Seems intense, especially the landing scene. Denzel usually picks interesting films.

I am assuming this is a straight remake of The Survivor (1980) and will likely havethe exact same twist.

Saw the trailer in IMAX and it really looked good. Loved that last shot of the plane flying upside down.

This looks like it could actually be a good videogame-based movie.

I agree that the upside down plane was over the top, but the shot of the wing smashing into the church was amazing.
