Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Report: Borderlands 2 Coming in 2012
Official announcement expected soon.

Gearbox Software will release a sequel to Borderlands sometime next year, according to a report from Eurogamer.

A source close to the project told the website the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that an official announcement is expected soon.

Gearbox officials declined to comment on the report.

Publisher Take-Two/2K Games has hinted previously that fans can expect more Borderlands titles in the future.

"We have long term publishing rights to sequels of Borderlands and expect this to become a key franchise for Take-Two," said then CEO Ben Feder during a 2009 earnings call.

Sweet.

Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and Halo 4...2012 is shaping up nicely.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

The September issue of Game Informer contains 12 pages of exclusive details and screenshots from Borderlands 2, and outlines the numerous improvements the developer has in store for your return trip to Pandora. Don’t expect just a couple bazillion more guns this time around. Gearbox is introducing new and more diverse environments, smarter and more powerful enemies, and an improved mission system capable of delivering a better story. This and much more will be revealed in the story, as well as our full month of additional online content.
I hope this includes a better map system. One thing really missing was a world map view.

Working at a game studio, you're often working on super-secret projects and dodging requests, inquiries, and sometimes downright pleas to find out what upcoming games are being developed, which is why being able to announce the sequel to the hugely successful and ever-adored Borderlands is so freaking awesome.

Borderlands 2 is headed to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC during our next fiscal year (which begins on April 1st, 2012). Borderlands 2 features all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment tucked into new and unexplored areas of Pandora.

Want to know more? Well, you are in luck! Head over to Game Informer right now to check out this month's cover, featuring Borderlands 2, and see some of the first images from the game.

Want to know even more than that? We're taking Borderlands 2 on the road: You'll be able to get your first look at the game at Gamescom 2011 from August 17th to August 21st and at PAX Prime (Booth #3417) from August 26th to August 28th.

Be sure to also follow 2K Games on Twitter and Facebook for all things Borderlands 2 in the coming months. You should also swing by the 2K Games Forums and the Gearbox Forums to chat it up with other Borderlands fans.

As borderlands is my current obsession, I am looking forward to this just slightly less than Skyrim.

A little odd - especially if still on Pandora - that you can't carry over your character to keep playing from BL1.

From the people who brought you Duke Nukem Forever

I'm hoping that this time around you can build fully customized characters from the ground up, rather than having to choose a canned persona. Other than that, a full clone of the first game featuring new areas is fine with me.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed that I can't bring Lilith cause she was a cool bitch to play.

Then we can all bitch about it being the exact same thing with no innovation. Thanks Groucho.

On some of the missions the compass only shows you the general area (all of the gun scavenger hunts are like this). BTW - I would be up for some co-op sometime if you want. My GT is in my sig.

Thanks for the offer but I'm actually in the process of finding a another place to live and let my Live membership expire until I get settled. I'll keep you invite in mind when I'm set up again but I gotta warn you, I totally suck and will probably end up shooting you :-(

No worries. There is a skill for Soldiers where that is a good thing.

It's safe to say everyone knew it was coming; just don't know when. To this date the best blind buy game I ever did.

I hope the original quartet are featured in this game in some way. As antagonists would be awesome, but I'd be happy with retired quest-givers.

That grass looks promising. I'm hoping the sequel will have a different environmental theme from the desert that dominated the first game.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

http://gamenyusu.com/component/conte...r-details.html

1. Enemies are going to be much more varied and ai greatly improved
2. It looks like there will not be any new elements added(see below)
3. There will be a new kind of element item called eridium and while it wont do damage like a typical element it will enhance things that other elements can do and also improve guns or vehicles in general, it also will be used as a form of currency
4. Skill tree will be same traditional 3 branch system as used in first game
5. They hinted that coop would still be only 4 players but did not outright confirm it
6. Story missions will no longer be static, I.E. if you need to rescue somebody as a mission but take too long that story arc will continue and the story will change for you
7. claptrap will be back in some form
8. the 4 characters from the original will be npc's
9. Guns manufacturers will have a unique theme for their guns
10. There will be pickups that allow temporary buffs sort of like the cores from general knoxx.
11. Gearbox is getting rid of all the old weapons and starting from scratch.
12. No mention of gun customization or crafting.
13. This game is going to be Epicly epic.

- Co-op will probably be 4 players
- Vehicles will have variety
- One vehicle: Bandit Technical
- One vehicle will have four seats
- Eridium – enhance weapons
- Eridium is a form of currency
- Salvador: Gunzerker, can dual-wield with any weapon
- Vault Hunters from the first game will be NPCs

- Bandits can access their own type of weaponry
- Unique styling, color, personality for each manufacturer
- Custom decals/enhancements for weapons
- More responsive enemies, more varied, better AI, improvement so that they interact with each other better
- NPCs will also be improved, will move around more
- Interacting dialogue for players
- Skill tree will be similar to the first game (3 branch system)
- Claptrap seems to be returning
- Apparently there won’t be any old weapons
- Story missions won’t be static
- Some pickups will provide temporary buffs

I thought that the ending hinted at going to other planets. Am I remembering that wrong?
