Fantastic. Most series finales don't have that much payoff. This series knows exactly what it is and it delivered completely.
Had to chuckle at the promo for next season from Steven S. Deknight after the finale: "The stories will be bigger, the scope will be larger, and the deaths will be spectacular."

Sorry to see Mira go.
Good to see Naevia get her revenge on Ashur. I'll miss his brand of treacherous villainy.
Oenamaus went down like a warrior.
Glaber died on on his knees before Spartacus.
Lucretia brought the batshit crazy one final time.
And next season...

Amazing season finale!
Could not believe how many characters died in this episode.
1st of all, I was stunned that they killed off Mira. That genuinely shocked me as I was expecting them to keep her around as Sparty's love interest even though they kind of broke up last week.
It was awesome to see Ashur get what he deserved. Was surprised that Crixus let that fight go on as long as it did.
at Oenomaus taking a Fall. The one thing I really enjoyed over the course of this season was seeing Gannicus and him bond again after their friendship was torn apart after the events of the prequel. His death scene here was quite moving.
The fire attack on the Roman camp was badass and I loved all the battle sequences. They were just vicious and hardcore.
Loved Sparty's final battle sequence with Glaber. Liam McIntyre really grew into the character IMO over the course of the season. I think after that sequence and the final scene where he fired up his troops, he really sold it for me that he's now Spartacus.
and Holy shit, Lucretia's double suicide with Ilithyia's newborn was fucking nuts. Some people on the Spartacus Facebook page also seem to think that Ilithyia is also dead too, which I find really hard to believe. With the death of her husband and newborn, I could see a really dark and crazy turn for the character next season (if Viva Bianca is brought back)

Shit your right, Ilithyia is dead. DeKnight confirms it here.

I'm going to miss her, she was great on this show. I hope this will lead to bigger things for Viva Bianca.

damn fine episode... glad Crixus and Gannicus made it out alive. Jaw literally dropped when Lucretia made the leap.

It'll be probably more blood tonight than we've seen the entire season and worth the price alone of the upcoming box set. A "Blood Feast" if there ever was one...
I knew a key Gladiator was going to bit the dust and after the close a close call with death twice already, the Arena and the Egyptain, I'm not surprised of Oenomaus fate....but sad anyway.
Mira...I think the writing on the wall came last week when Spartacus couldn't give anymore of his "heart" and she realized it was never meant to be.
Ashur was going down no matter what...just a question of by whom. He did add a nice element of evil in the mix.

Just watched the finale and wow . I couldn't believe they killed so many characters but it makes sense after reading about where they're heading in season 3.

Bloody finale. I figured Mira would die, but I was figuring on Gannicus not Oenomaus so that was a bit of a surprise. Ashur certainly deserved to die, but there is a certain logic to him cockroaching his way out of it again so I thought that could go either way.
Pleasantly surprised that they had the guts to kill off Lucretia. I thought her status within production might be a safety net for her.
Ok, so I know what DeKnight said, but since the show itself kept it a little ambiguous I hope they change their mind and bring back Ilithyia. I disagree that there is nowhere for her to go. She has some status in Rome. Certainly, the show would NOT be the same without Viva Bianca. They've gotten rid of so many of their interesting cast members why not save one.

Their answer would be, "Because that character no longer fits within the story we're telling." And because they think they can give us more interesting characters just like they have so far. We'll have to wait and see.

I could see Ilythia somehow surviving, and making her way finally back to Rome to her great relief. Then the new Spartacus hunters feel her intimate knowledge of Spartacus can serve the Republic best by accompanying the legions going after him. And poor, poor Ilythia gets drug right back out of the city and back into the mud and filth.

Well, I was particularly underwhelmed by both of the major re-castings that they made this year so I'm not entirely confident in their decision making. They have a character, who isn't obviously dead, that also works very well within the framework of their show. She's not like Glaber, who had to die, or even Lucretia who was past her expiration date. I think it makes sense to try to find a place for her. But it's their show so it's up to them.

I like the actor they got to play
for next season.
He was part of a Australian lawyer show I really enjoyed. He has that sort of cocky arrogance you just love to hate. He is a great choice in my opinion.
My only complaint is that I felt that Naevia over-acted in her fight scene. I know they were going for a feral-type of aggression... it just came off too forced.
