Re: Best Buy Ad April 1 - 7, 2012

Too bad (for me) that I just bought Harry Potter DH Part 2 2D BD for $5 used from Blockbuster on Monday. Had I known about the 3D deal next week, I wouldn't have done that as all sales are final at Blockbuster.

At least it's not a RENTAL disc so I might be able to trade it in, but I'd have to print a new color cover as the Blockbuster one came with a missing back cover. The only thing stopping me is not having a color printer and my work not allowing flash drives and blocking all the cover download sites, but who knows... FYE trade in value is probably only worth $1 or $2 on it.

Is the Part 2 3D conversion good or crappy like people say about Part 1 and Clash of the Titans 3D?

I hate to state the obvious, but can't you email it to yourself? It's an image, so I doubt it would be blocked...

Shit, I think I paid $25 for the 3D set. Never thought I'd see it that cheap.
FWIW, it doesn't really come with a Digital copy, it just has that awful Ultraviolet streaming.

That is a possibility I've considered, but as they actively monitor incoming emails with their super paranoia I don't know if a BMP or JPG would raise any red flags. The message would probably make it through, but would I get a visit from security? Do they personally view every picture and read every email? Do they watch every camera they have everywhere? Who knows with this bunch. When in doubt I try to avoid anything to wake the sleeping dragon. I keep hoping I'll find another solution to print these covers.

I know we're way off topic, but the library is an interesting suggestion. I had never thought of that. I assumed that most libraries are still hyper paranoid about people surfing the Internet for porn and such and would restrict Internet access even worse than my work does. So I find it hard to believe they would let people access cover sites and even more difficult to believe (given their constant complaints about not having any money) that a library would have a good color printer available for public use for free. If other cities and states have free color printers and Internet use at the library, then it might be worth calling to ask if mine does too. I never go to the library any more since they almost never get anything new (or maybe 1 copy for the entire city with a 3 month wait) because every time I ask them about anything the response is always "sorry... our budget cuts don't allow us to buy ______ any more".

However, if the library charged for color printing I could believe it. Doesn't Staples charge about $1 per color copy? I haven't checked the price yet. If I get desperate I might just find an acquaintance with a color printer at home, give him a flash drive, and see if he'll print stuff for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the suggestion. Some of these things never occurred to me.

My local library charges 10 cents [per page] for black & white printouts and 25 cents [per page] for all color printouts. I imagine all libraries would be the same. Shit costs money and most libraries have a very small budget so offering free prints isn't something I'd expect from them.

Thanks. If it's a good color printout, I can handle 25 cents per page. Hopefully they don't charge for Internet access and I can access the cover sites to print them. Next time I go by a library I'll check it out.

The Disney Blu Ray 2 for $35 combo deal includes the 3 disc set of THE MUPPETS (The Wocka Wocka Value Pack) which BB is currently selling for $34.99. I just placed an in-store pickup order for The Muppet 3 disk set and CARS 2 plus the Easter bag.

Good to know, I was tempted by this even with the 2 disc, but I might go ahead and pick this up along with Pirates or Cars 2.

Another one not listed: European Vacation for 7.99. I wonder if it's a mistake, since it's never been cheaper than 19.99 at Best Buy. Sadly, Vacation isn't also on sale.

The Harold and Kumar Christmas 3d listings seem to be reversed. The 3D looks to be the standard one (format: Blu-ray disc) while the one without the 3D in the title has the format as Blu-ray 3D and also $10 more. The images seem correct though.

or send a copy to yourself with the extension renamed to .txt or some made-up extension. Then rename it back on your pc.

Gonna have to sit out this sale.

Not too bad at $17.50 each. I paid $14.24 each at Target during release week ($8 off Target combo deal, $8 off coupon on packaging and 5% off with Redcard). You never know with Disney movies, but I'd say the lowest these 2 will ever go is $14.99. So, I'd get them now.

So I ordered this for in-store pickup. They pulled the 2d version instead of the 3d version. I pointed that out to the lady checking me out. Another girl (supervisor-wanna-be?) came over and said "My fiance knows all about these things and we watched this just this past weekend. The 2d version is 3d." I said "Really? You're going to tell me that 2d is 3d?" She said "Yes". I told her she should have just said they fucked up and left it at that instead of looking stupid making up bullshit stories, then I left empty-handed. I didn't really mind not getting the movie but their excuses are getting worse and worse.
