Yes, this is a great dvd and a very good action film. The film is a excellent adaption of the comic, and Wesley Snipes IS Blade. Blade is half vampire and half human, and devotes his life in a battle against the vampire nation. This film is ultra violent, incredible action sequences, very good camera work, a good story, a excellent musical score, and a very good villian(Stephen Dorff). The suppoting cast all give good performances, with Kris Kristofferson perfect as Whistler. The transfer is outstanding, which is saying allot considering how dark most of this film is(Vampires aren't that fond of daylight).
The audio is also top notch, with the subwoofer(or base) being well used, while still keeping the Dialogue sounding natural. The 5.1 DD really does justice to the music and effects, although I would love to see this film released in dts. New Line released this through it's "Platinum Series", so it is loaded with extras. The dvd offers four featurettes, a interactive menue with information of the different "vampire houses", commentary tracks, trailers, and the alternate ending(it is only half completed, missing some of the special effects). Out of 5 stars I give Blade:
Film-****
Transfer-****1/2
Audio-****
Extras-****

This is really all dependant upon your taste in film. Personally, I thought this movie was utter crap and a 10 disc special edition with an MSRP of ten dollars would not make me buy it. But, to each his own. What other movies do you like?

Since I really enjoyed this film, it wasn't hard to like the Platinum Edition that New Line put out. You can read my full Blade review here:

I didn't like it at the theater but I did buy it when it was cheap and had some GC to burn b/c friends liked it so much. After watching again I actually thought it was good for what it was. I think my main problem was that the vampires seemed too easy to kill. I did not read the Blade comics so tell me, were the bullets made of something special to kill vampires that was explained elsewhere? Their easy deaths would not be explained if the vampires were like the mainstream vampires that we know. I'm sure I would like the movie more if this were explained in the comic.

I've seen it on VHS. Good movie I thought but it's my taste in movies. I would recommend renting it first. I like Snipes and good action movies so good combination for me.

So if I watch it about 50 or 60 more times, I might start to like it?
