Echo Bridge Takes On Miramax DVD Titles

Echo Bridge Entertainment, a leading worldwide distribution company, and Miramax announced today that they have entered into a domestic distribution deal. Under the long-term deal, Echo Bridge will distribute 251 titles from the distinguished Miramax film library via DVD and Blu-ray to retailers around the country utilizing Echo Bridge’s unique merchandising and distribution techniques. Miramax titles under the new partnership include such films as the From Dusk Till Dawn trilogy, award-winning dramas such as Music of the Heart, Marvin’s Room, Tsotsi and Becoming Jane, and select titles from the Hellraiser, Halloween, Pokemon and Children of the Corn franchises.

“These Miramax titles are fabulous additions to our home entertainment offerings,” said Michael Rosenblatt, Chairman, President and CEO of Echo Bridge. “We’re elated to partner with Mike Lang and the new Miramax team. We are all very excited about bringing these Miramax titles - many of which have tremendous star power and are cult classics - to audiences for their discovery and enjoyment.”

“We are very pleased to partner with Michael Rosenblatt and the team at Echo Bridge on these titles, which in many cases have never been fully exploited,” said Mike Lang, CEO of Miramax. “Our goal at Miramax is to work with the right partners to fully maximize every asset in our extraordinary film catalog across all platforms. We believe the Echo Bridge team will bring the right experience, execution and a strong entrepreneurial approach to our business, along with our other home entertainment partners.”

Are they going to release the 251 titles on 10 five-disc sets?

Give Echo Bridge a little credit, the DVDs will probably be around 62 different 4-5 movie per disc titles.

I thought it was Lionsgate releasing the Miramax titles. What is going on here?

Yea, first there was a partnership with Starz, then Lionsgate, now Echo Bridge? Are they splitting the catalog out or something?

Re: Echo Bridge Takes On Miramax DVD Titles

That's a shame. Echo Bridge DVDs never have closed captioning or subtitling, which are important to some of us.

Doesn't Miramax own the US rights to one of the Godzilla flicks? Is this more or less likely to help that show up?

Isn't Echo Bridge a public domain distributor?

Re: Echo Bridge Takes On Miramax DVD Titles

I hope they will actaully do something decent for these movies on bluray, the only bluray I have seen has been Mega Pirahana in the 5.00 dump bin at Best Buy. I better be able to buy From Dusk til dawn and not have to buy the shitty DTV sequels.

Re: Echo Bridge Takes On Miramax DVD Titles

Didn't the Weinstein brothers retain the rights to some of the Miramax titles? I'm hopeful that we'll get a BluRay or anamorphic DVD of EVERYONE SAYS I LOVE YOU.

Has Miramax really fallen this hard? Or has Echo Bridge suddenly gotten better?

Disney sold Miramax to an investment group called Filmyard Holdings last year. Filmyard has been licensing the catalog out to other companies, notably Lions Gate, which will handle A-list titles like Pulp Fiction and the Scream franchise, and Echo Bridge, which will apparently be getting most of the Dimension horror franchises and some of the lesser known Miramax movies.

I won't be surprised if they just recycle the old discs to fill the cheap bins at Walgreen's.

The only must-have title on that list, of course, is POKEMON HEROES!
