Canceled an Amazon order paid with gift card?
I have a question... has anyone ever canceled an order than was paid for from your gift card balance? The amount is taken out of the balance at the time of the order, but so far the amount has not been put back in after I canceled the order. I'm getting concerned. I called Amazon customer support, but they kept insisting that the amount wouldn't have been reduced until the item shipped, which is incorrect.

Unless it was a promotional credit of some kind which had since expired, I've always gotten those balances back when the order was cancelled. I would keep trying to contact them. What they said would be correct if it was a credit card balance, but not for a gift card. And this was an acutal phone conversation? Because I've had issues like this with their customer service when I try to contact them via email or chat, but usually when I call it's easy to get things straightened out.

I expected it to add right back in; I don't what this 24 hour business is. I was on the phone, and they probably cooked that up to get rid of me.

Re: Canceled an Amazon order paid with gift card?
I have done this, and the money usually goes right back into my balance immediately upon cancellation.
The one exception is when I cancel only part of an order. If I cancel an item from an order paid for with GC funds, but other items from the same order remain, the money for the cancelled item does not go back to my account until either a) the remaining items are cancelled or b) the remaining items ship.
Don't know why they can't just credit back funds for the cancelled items only, but that appears to be the way it works.
