Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

I honestly think my favorite is the scene in The Incredibles when Elastigirl goes to see Edna.

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

One of the best scenes in cinema history:
1. Up - Married Life

2. Rattatoiulle - Anton's review (who in the world would have thought that a food review could be so touching? THAT is the magic of Pixar)

3. Incredibles - 100 mile dash

4. Wall-E - Wall-E and Eve "dancing" in space

5. Geri's game

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

1. "Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!" - Monsters Inc.

2. Buzz's mating dance for Jessie - Toy Story 3

3. Remy explaining how tastes combine - Ratatouille

4. Wall-E taking care of EVE - Wall-E

5. Riding the sea turtles - Finding Nemo.

Honorable mention to the car versions of other Pixar movies in Cars.

Dishonorable mention to Jessie's song in Toy Story 2. Cloying, manipulative, and sadly copied by every Disney animated film since then.

1. Anton Ego's first bite of the Ratatouille
2. The opening act of Wall-E
3. The 100-mile Dash scene, The Incredibles
4. Married life montage, Up
5. Ego's voiceover review, Ratatouille

Well this is a great list!

5. Nemo getting lost in 'Finding Nemo'.
4. Wall-E and Eve dancing in space
3. The Incredibles join forces for the first time. I love that shot in the jungle with them all standing together ready to fight.
2. The very ending of 'Monster's Inc.' when Sully opens the door..."Boo."
1. Yes, the married life montage in 'Up' is great, but I lost it when a dejected Carl sits in his chair, opens the scrapbook and finds the note his wife wrote telling him to go and have more adventures.

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

Wow, these lists have refreshed in my mind just how incredible the Pixar movies are. Every one of them -- with the exception of "A Bug's Life" and "Cars" -- easily rank among my top 100 favorite movies of all time.

I'll never understand why "A Bug's Life" gets such a bad rap. I think it's a fantastic movie; clever, sharp, funny, and moving.

I'm with you. I think both that and Cars are better than Up, which, while good, is overrated.

I love Cars. And I have ZERO interest in NASCAR. I think it's a wonderfully entertaining movie. I think the combination of NASCAR and Larry the Cable Guy turned off a lot of people from EVER liking it.

Although it's not perfect. The "Git R Done" line made me cringe like no end, and I had never cringed during a Pixar movie, before or since. Veered straight into Dreamworks territory there. And yeah, the overall storyline is a bit cliche and "Doc Hollywood Redux". But it's pleasures are in its details and simple charms -- great voice acting, beautiful animation, endearing sentiment, great humor, and so forth.

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

Agreed on all counts. Cars is not perfect, but it gets a way worse rap than it deserves.

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

Agree with the Cars love, if only for the Route 66 parallels. I have a fascination with the disintegration of the small towns along that road and I think the movie captures that perfectly (along with the quirkiness of the survivors that remain along 66).

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

Most are already in common with what has been mentioned ...

Incredibles - Jak Jak vs. Syndrome
Monsters Inc - "Kitty"
Wall-E - The Dance (Wall-E and Eve)
A Bug's Life - Carnival "Flea Fire"

But I'd add: ...

Finding Nemo - "Mine, Mine, Mine ..."

I almost listed that bit from Finding Nemo in place of the sea turtle ride.

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

Yeah the "mine mine mine" scene in Nemo is awesome. I mean it's 180 degrees from the beginning of Up or pretty much anything in Wall-E or the end of Ratatouille but that's probably the one scene in all the Pixar movies that makes me laugh the hardest.

Honestly is there a better studio than Pixar? Are there any studios that have put out such a high percentage of quality movies?

Re: Your Top 5 Pixar Scenes

Most of these have already been picked:

5. Edna Mode demonstrating the reasons why capes are a bad idea
4. The introduction of Kevin in Up
3. The scene where the food critic finally eats ratatouille in Ratatouille
2. Buzz's realization / fall
1. Jessie's song (obviously)

Honorable mentions:
Wall-E's dance in space with Ev-a
The abominable snowman / sledding sequence in Monsters Inc.

Jeez, I'm just scratching the surface.
