John Carpenter to direct Fangland

Even though Carpenter has lost a step, I'm curious to see 'The Ward' (September 24th) and now it looks like he has his follow-up project.

This sounds cheesy....but it is JC so i'll give it a chance.

Sriram Das and Blumhouse Productions have brought on horror king John Carpenter to direct a film adaptation of John Marks' 2008 novel Fangland.

The project has been in development for two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank to star as Evangeline Harker, a producer of a TV news magazine eerily similar to "60 Minutes."

In the book, Harker is an employee of the legendary TV news magazine "The Hour." Sent on assignment to Transylvania, she delivers more than a story when mysterious e-mails, coffins, and a creepy guy named Torgu descend on the New York office.

Swank fans will recall her early role in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and it marks a return as well for Carpenter, director of Halloween, The Fog, Vampires, and Stephen King's Christine, coming after his first film in nearly a decade, this summer's forthcoming The Ward.

It's been a while since I read the book, but I remember it as being really enjoyable...a page turner for sure.

Same here. Ghosts of Mars was a kick to the groin, but I thought Cigarette Burns was an awesome return to form. I'm hoping for something more like the latter.

This.

The Ward is easily one of most anticipated movies of the year and I'm hoping like hell he can deliver the goods like the Carpenter of old.

Fangland sounds promising as well

Re: John Carpenter to direct Fangland

i thought Ghosts of Mars beat the hell out of Village of the Damned. If he gets a bit more passion back and stops the slow progressive action fades into scenes 2 seconds later he'll be fine.

Re: John Carpenter to direct Fangland

I think I remember really enjoying Cigarette Burns as well, although I can't recall a thing about it at the moment.

I'm in, John Carpenter has a free pass for life as far as I'm concerned. Halloween and The Thing are that good.
