It certainly can't be any worse than any of the other films he's appeared in.

NO thanks.
Maybe a renter but like my Chirs Rock R-rated and this has been rated Pg-13.
R-Rated Chris Rock = New Jack City , Dogma, Lethal Weapon 4 , The Chris Rock Show
PG-13 Chris ROck - Down to Earth , Head Of State, The Longest Yard

I thought the trailer looked really entertaining - wondering though if it the movie can sustain it for it's 95 minute running time. Between this and 'The September Issue' there are some very interesting documentaries coming out this month.

The September Issue had some very, very good per-theater-averages this past weekend. I want to see it but I haven't seen The Cove yet.

A black female filmmaker named Ayoka Chenzira once did a short film on this subject, "Hair Piece: A Film for Nappyheaded People":

I saw it back then, but I don't remember much about it.

I liked the use of Mighty Real by Sylvester as the music.

Chris Rock returns with a quasi documentary on hair, uncovering the lengths some black women go to get their hair not only relaxed and straightened, but styled and extended with weaves for that enviable ornamental hairstyle that will enhance their own self-image (at costs that will cause a raised eyebrow from some viewers).
For someone who basically gets by with a straight comb and shampoo, there was some eye-opening footage ranging from the source of hair weaves, hair stylists competitions, hair product conventions, the manufacture/production and dangers of hair relaxers. The glue to the documentary were the candid interview segments of Chris Rock's questions on the topic of hair to the men and women (celebrities and normal folks) he interviewed for this film, and a lot of it is very funny and real.
I give it 3 stars, or a grade of B.

It got reviewed (mostly positively) on At the Movies this week. It looks interesting. Phillips complimented Rock on his interviewing ability.
It is an worthwhile topic and one that deserves some scrutiny, particularly from a sociological viewpoint. What many women spend on this stuff is astounding.

In Ebert's review, he states that after watching the movie he believes that he knows more about black women's hair than Rock does. I think that Ebert is losing it.
I saw this last week and thought it was pretty good. I learned a lot.

I saw this last night. It was decent but could have and should have been a lot more informative. Rock focuses way too much time on a sidebar about contestants in a ridiculous hair styling contest at a large Atlanta black hair products convention.
It did, however, end with one of the best closing lines (courtesy of actor Ice-T) of probably any documentary I have ever seen.

On a side note, I love me some Nia Long.

I watched this on demand recently thinking it would be funny and make for an interesting documentary. The only part I didn't really care about was the hair show in Atlanta. The price that black women pay for the weaves is insane. That scene with that kid crying while getting their head shaved in India almost made me cry.

Saw this on HBO last night. Wasn't expecting that a majority of the doc was gonna focus on that "Hair show" competition, but that still ended up being involving & entertaining to me nonetheless.

Never been a big fan, but she does seem to be getting hotter with age.

Ha, I've never considered the consequences of touching a black woman's hair, especially when I've had so many women ask me to pull theirs!
