It's likely on account of The Tetris Company, unfortunately. Ironically, it wasn't even a Tetris game to begin with, but would have zero name recognition here without the license.
BTW, absolutely hate the obstructed controller ports. The actual ports are even in the corresponding place they were left exposed on the NES version. WTH?
Very cool - and surprising to me but hey - that it should still be 100% hackable through the rear USB.

There's now some pirated NES Classic clones out there that are much better imitations than the knock-offs DVD-Josh posted. They look near identical aside from some font and logo placement differences:

These aren't obvious knock-offs like the Chinese "Entertainment System," which just sticks an old 500-in-1 Famiclone in a vaguely NES-Classic-Esque shell. No, these are full bootleg consoles that try to mimic the NES Classic Edition down to the small details.

In the UK, not in the US. Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart have set up options to notify you when they start pre-orders.

Ordered one and requested a pickup at my local Walmart Neighborhood Market. It's literally right around the corner from my house.
It will arrive just in time for my birthday. Says it should arrive by October 5th.
I don't like rushing to get something like this, but I don't trust the scavengers who will plow through this release day and probably make it unavailable in B&M's like Gamestop.
I'm looking forward to this. I like fun and simple gaming and I never owned an SNES back in the day.

Just checked and the pre-order is out of stock as of today.

Just a warning that I preordered the Switch from Walmart.com... and they completely screwed it up by going way over their allocation. Ended up getting my Switch from Amazon the day before launch so I could guarantee it because their communication was nonexistent.

Not going to post a link but Yahoo had a quick video blurb this morning that perhaps an N64 classic is right around the corner too. I could see it happening, but not this close to the SNES version...

Yeah, Nintendo filed new patents for a N64 style controller. No chance they will confirm it this early, but it's pretty much guaranteed next year. Since these things slowly rise in cost each year, plan on paying $99.99 for that puppy.

Someone "in the know" is saying that Nintendo is making double as many of the SNES minis as they made of the NES minis, to which I had to laugh, as they'll need to make more than 20x as many to even come close to meeting demand.

Not to burst your bubble or anything (I mean, I signed up for those too) but Amazon preorder notifications for hot items are useless. You'll get it hours after they sell out.
