Didn't Nintendo supposedly stop producing the Classic NES because they needed the plant to produce Switches? Aren't Switches still hard to find? Won't producing this this year interfere with Switch production?
Nintendo really should put these classics out on a biannual basis. Skip this year and focus on Switch production, then offer Classic SNES for holiday 2018. If Metroid Prime 4 comes out holiday 2018 like we're hoping (though I'm not holding my breath), it'd be great timing to offer this Classic SNES around its release.

Honestly I don't know what Nintendo gained from stopping production on the NES Classic. It has very little to it and shouldn't have been taking up too many resources.
NES Classic: Allwinner R16 (4x Cortex A7, Mali400MP2 GPU)
You can get that shit out of every crappy HK device on the market.

Wasn't there some article that Nintendo was competing with apple for certain chips and that was limiting production of the Switch?

Wife wanted the Nintendo classic, but we never got one, and the desire to get one faded. We still have a working SNES, so this is an easy pass.

I'll add Super Tennis to the missing list. Still one of the best tennis games ever. It should have been a prime candidate as a filler title since it hasn't appeared anywhere since the SNES, to my knowledge.
Tetris Attack would be cool, but unlikely given EA owns Tetris now and they weren't the developers of TA.
Actraiser would be amazing, but would Square Enix allow it to be included in another company's collection? I played it last year on the VC, and it's still awesome.
with 3 NES games on it.

It was 4 games. It also had Japan's SMB2: The Lost Levels. And they had 16-bit graphics so it wasn't just the NES games stapled together. Also, it's not like every SNES owner previously had an NES so, in a way, it was a form of backwards-compatibility.
Still doesn't belong on the SNES Classic though but the NES Classic doesn't deserve to be dead either. It's a stupid world.

They definitely needed to add Mario All-Stars, and Chrono Trigger. Otherwise, solid collection.
Now to see how many they crank out before they sell out and stop making them.

I MIGHT buy one if I run across it, but I'll be damned if I'll put time into hunting like I did with the NES. But frankly at this point I'm really considering getting a pre-built Raspberry Pi.

YES, Super Tennis was mint - heck, so was Super Soccer.
and Chrono Trigger is kind of obvious especially with Mana in there.
You can't complain about the selection regardless on its own merits, but I do think it's kinda odd to cut back to 21 when the NES had 30. Seems like a nice round number they could have stuck with, with no hard and fast reasons they had to trim down.
Whatever - still a nice little package, but not for me.
Anyone else notice they don't look to be offering separate controllers at ALL this time around, with the two in the box? Really sucks for those wanting to add to their Classic Controller collection - not that getting the NES one was ever a realistic proposition anyway.

Looks like Nintendo is taking pre-orders this time around.
Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition.
So,the disastrous stock situation with the original NES Classic Edition has been extremely well documented across the internet.
Hopefully Nintendo paid close attention to this and we won't see a repeat with the upcoming Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Classic Mini.
Currently there are no stores taking pre-orders for the Super NES Classic Edition. Both Best Buy and Amazon US now have pre-order pages setup (see below), but are yet to open orders.
Amazon UK, Official Nintendo UK Store, GAME and Shop.to have now stopped taking pre-orders for the time being, however we expect this to open up again once they have a better understanding of their stock allocation from Nintendo.

Didn't they have preorders for the NES classic, it just sold out within minutes.

Agreed... I have a ton of experience in manufacturing and can't imagine a single scenario where they couldn't have produced a ton more units off the tools they made for this system... unless they went with a completely chintzy setup, they totally dropped the ball and gave their customers a big middle finger.... IMO.

As for an N64 Classic, I wonder if there will be any third-party stuff at all. Given the value they put on the games, I wouldn't expect more than 15 (maybe as few as 10 or 12). What would make the cut? Nothing that Capcom or Konami put out would be worth it, with the possible exception of the Resident Evil 2 port (although I think they'd want to avoid that one due to its rating). Beetle Adventure Racing, Turok, and the Star Wars games would need to be re-licensed, so they're probably out.

I would consider getting this. I was a Genesis guy after the regular NES and never got a SNES system.
But, if this is too difficult to find or if the scavengers on Ebay buy out all the retail units to drive up price and demand, I won't bother. I am anticipating those leaches will do it.
My big issue right now is that I am running out of shelf space and HDMI ports.
Currently I have 2 HDMI switches plugged into my TV. I have 3 HDMI ports.
These are all the devices I currently have plugged in:
Directv DVR
BD player
Roku
PS4
XBox One S
My computer
Android media box
Really running out of space. I don't know where I would put this and also running out of power ports.
