Re: E3 2017

It's time to move on from the following tropes:

1) Zombies
2) Unrealistic stealth and/or brain-dead, deaf, peripheral-unaware AI
3) VR
4) Melancholy cover versions of 80s pop songs to set the mood
5) Quicktime events
6) Lists

Flame away.
The original game was rated "T" so I don't see it being that big of a jump to the new one having curse words. If you've been playing games with your kids since the original BG&E I'm going to assume they played games with violence/killing in them so I don't see what they big deal is about cursing in them.

Re: E3 2017

In film, PG-13 gets you one f-bomb. T should be pretty similar. I'm with Goldberg, the constant use of "fuck" was the first thing that stood out to me. The first game was a wholesome game with a great female protagonist. All the f-bombs on this were unnecessary.

Then again maybe that's Ancel getting some agression out on a 14 year development hell game.

1. meh. Skip 'em then. Days Gone looks pretty cool to me.
2. I hate stealth so I, for one, am more than open to dumb AI in stealth sections in games that don't need or shouldn't have stealth to begin with.

Re: E3 2017

So uh, Crackdown 3 huh. Fool me once... once the trailer gets past that god awful Terry Crewes nonsense, it starts looking decent... but I bought and played Crackdown 2, which was a steaming pile of cow manure. I want this to be good, but I can't see myself buying it on day one. They're going to need a bunch of glowing reviews to get me to even buy it on the cheap.

It's not your creation. Who are you to say they're unnecessary?

Re: E3 2017

If you can lift them from the script and still accomplish the same tone then they are unnecessary. There is nothing in that trailer that suggests that any of them are needed.

Someone should ask Ancel about it because it is a curious design choice.

All these games are looking exactly the same and I blame, in general, the dumb AI which is offset by hordes of "straight at ya" bad guys. Zombies are just the default version of this. It's so boring and uninspired. It would be different if the humans were more aware when you tripped their perimeter alarm system or could see beyond 3 yards around them.

I hate zombie hordes in general. In Days Gone they all run like a reanimated Carl Lewis.

Re: E3 2017

Okay, in that one game, they're more of a weapon than a threat. But just because some game figured out a way to "28 Days Later" them doesn't mean they're not completely played out.

Re: E3 2017

Well, seems like the most "exciting" things from this E3 were sequels.

How much longer can the industry keep eating it's own tail?

Re: E3 2017

Heh, my dislikes as of late are:

1) FPS

That's it really, I'm just tired of an entire type of gameplay.

I'm basically there. I've shot untold millions of people, aliens, zombies... I'm getting exhausted.*

*I reserve the right to enjoy Borderlands 3, Days Gone and Far Cry 5 though.

Try the original Far Cry... the lowest level grunt could spot you from a mile away and drill you with a pistol while you crouch in foliage.

Can Nintendo make a game that doesn't look like a cartoon?

I kind of feel like it's in their best interest, since trying to make something with more realistic graphics will look bad in comparison to the other consoles out there.

Re: E3 2017

25 minutes LOL Nintendo keeps on validating my decision to not own one of their consoles since the N64.
