Link to the Past is still one of my favorites of all time. I've had a hard time getting in to the 3D Zelda games.

Yep. Got real annoyed at all the drooling over Ocarina when it was clearly just a clunky reskin of LttP.

Re: Favorite game in The Legend Of Zelda series?

I've played maybe 5-7 of those, most of them old school. For me, it's the original and A Link to the Past. I'm sure there are some great gems in the more recent years, but I just don't have time or interest. I got put off the series during Wind Waker, which is awesome, but the whole "pilot the boat until you find all the Triforce pieces" bit toward the end (hopefully it was the end!) left me cold and I stopped.

I've only played A Link to the Past, had a brief encounter with Ocarina of Time (N64), looked interesting, but Link to the Past has my vote.

Why vote in a poll where you've only played one of the games? You don't have a favorite.

Re: Favorite game in The Legend Of Zelda series?

For me it will always be the first. I remember begging my mother to buy this for me. This was when games were like $40 and that was in the 1990s! I had some minor surgery and would be recouperating so guilted her into buying it for me. I still remember pouring over the manual for hints and exploring every nook and cranny of the game, lighting everything on fire and bombing everything I could to find secrets. Then the Nintendo Power with the Second Quest maps came out and it was like playing the game all over. I still play through it every so often and am amazed how much I remember.

Re: Favorite game in The Legend Of Zelda series?

Ocarina all the way. The size and scope of the game was amazing and in 3D no less! The soundtrack was amazing. "hey!" N'avi was fun. The temples and challenges were great. It was just all around fantastic.

I saved up and bought A Link to the Past on release day. Finished it in a week. That kinda left a bad taste in my mouth ever since. It was a tad too easy. I need to revisit it.

Other notables; Wind Waker was great, but the sailing held it back. The original was epic and one of a kind. Twilight Princess was a snoozefest. Gave up about 6-8 hours in. I couldn't get past the waggle in Skyward Sword, dumped that about 2-3 hours in.

On the mobile front Sprit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass were solid... but the cream of the crop is easily A Link Between Two Worlds. Fantastic game.

Re: Favorite game in The Legend Of Zelda series?

Thanks for all of the replies.

If anyone is interested, in an interview with Game Informer, Eiji Aonuma listed his top three favorite games in The Legend Of Zelda series, with The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass as his favorite game in the series:

Re: Favorite game in The Legend Of Zelda series?

Console: Link To A Past
Mobile: Link's Awakening (favorite)

So many great memories playing both. Link's Awakening was the first and only time I called the Nintendo Hotline to find out how to get past a part towards the end. As for LTAP, my friend and I pretty much spent an entire summer playing through that and Super Metroid over and over again.
