I actually meant it to be COD in the Best Action....and besides throughout the years you can almost bet seeing BF or/and COD in the GOTY and Best Action constantly...just a bit odd they are not and nice to see something different.

And great seeing the first winners. All games I grew up playing in England on my Sinclair spectrum. Ultimate was the best game company for years...by far.

In fact, looking at the winners through the years it's a pretty damn accurate look at my gaming life and the games and systems I have played through since 1983.

Re: The Game Awards 2016

Hopefully we see some cool announcement trailers tonight. I would assume we'll see a Destiny 2 teaser soon. Not sure if they would do that tonight or wait until PSX this weekend.

Seems like it's all via online streams.

Halo Wars 2 season pass is free right now. I'm guessing some promotion with the awards?

I looked on the website and it's not even available for purchase, just as part to the Ultimate Edition bundle

The former Spike TV presenter wants nothing less than to create an Oscars for video games and he's well on his way.

That's too bad, I found Overwatch to be profoundly boring.

Re: The Game Awards 2016

No that I really care about these types of shows but...how was infinite warfare not listed for best action game?

While I loved titanfall 2, the campaign is not better than infinite warfare and I'm having a hard time believing that battlefields campaign was better as well.

I somewhat get the hate people have for COD but let's not get pretentious.

Having played all three campaigns, and having enjoyed each one, I'd say;
Titanfall 2 > > Battlefield 1 > CoD Infinite

All three are AAA massive budget action games. How does an awards show liking one over the other make them pretentious? This type of usage of that word is why no one takes it seriously anymore.

Re: The Game Awards 2016

It's not that surprising either, of the listed nominees Infinite Warfare was rated lower then all of them critically, and it was media outlets that submitted nominations. By metacritic using the highest number per platform.

Battlefield 1 - 88
Doom - 87
Gears of War 4 - 95
Overwatch - 91
Titanfall 2 - 89

Infinite Warfare was 78.

That's awesome that DOOM got 2. Including best action game. Hope that means a sequel...

Re: The Game Awards 2016

I'm just saying in general, maybe if I said "Let's not get out of hand"?? Of course some of this is matter of opinion as well - I thought infinite warfare played tight, was the most visually impressive and had the best voice acting and mechanics. Basically, at the very least it should have been included.

Sequels in games, just like movies, are predicated on sales and grosses, not on awards. That's why Spotlight 2 isn't in production.

I don't know... I don't think DOOM is the kind of game that gets sequels...
