Day one!

Can't please everyone, but wired controllers in 2016? I'd drop another $20 for wireless.

Also love all the game complaints. They could have easily included a bunch of shit games but this is a helluva collection.

I would be all over this except I'm all out of HDMI ports on my TV.

Port 1: Directv
Port 2: Blu-Ray
Port 3 with extender: PS4, XBox 360, Roku, PC

I guess I could feasibly put another extender where the Blu-Ray is, but there's hardly any space for it. It would be very cluttered. Plus I have a Slingbox there as well, which makes it crowded.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

Yeah, Atari is coming out with a couple super crap collections of 2600 games for the PS4 and Xbox One, with maybe 3 decent games on each collection.

This looks like Nintendo cherry picked the best games for the system. I understand to keep licensing costs down that they had to choose what they consider the best or most iconic game in each series (Mega Man 2, Double Dragon 2, Super C, Ninja Gaiden) and not be able to include all of the series.

And, yeah, seeing this system makes me drool at the thought of a Mini SNES system and the possible 30 games that could be included.

Good. This was the case a while back (at least 5 years)...and maybe they changed things since then. Or maybe my Wii just sucked . It did break the first day I put in SSB.

i'm in the same boat. i would be all over this if not for the lack of HDMI port, plus the non-cartridge slot. still an amazing little gadget that warrants serious consideration...

I'm surprised people actually thought it would contain a cartridge slot. That would be a nightmare for Nintendo to support these days.

Re: NES Classic Edition (30 games; 60 bucks; 11/11/2016)

That's an excellent collection of games to include. I'm tempted, but...

- Seems like cartridges are not an option. A little disappointing, but whatever.
- Is it expandable? 30 games are great (and excellent choices!), but I want to be able to add more. Do I have to buy more titles individually via VC, or can I load them via USB?
I would want one or the other. I don't NEED a cartridge slot, and prefer not to have it really, but I'd like to know games can be added.

- Doesn't appear to have a CRT filter. Not a deal breaker, but man... I'd pay extra for that. I mentioned it in another thread, but this is what I'm talking about. I totally appreciate the pixel-perfect displays and all that, but these games can be elevated by something like this.
Spoiler:

Small quibble; I do wish it would've had Castlevania III instead of II. And while Super C is fine, Contra would've been nice too.

Though I'd much rather get the SNES equivalent, even though I already have perfectly good working SNES and 40 of my favorite games on it.

I was looking for Contra, as it was my favorite game. I had never heard of Super C before, however.

I'll be getting this more than likely just to support Nintendo. I still have an NES and buy games for it still on occasion but this will be nice too. I'm wondering if it'll be expandable maybe via SD cards or something. It'd be cool if it had wifi and had some storage space for downloading games.

The Genesis one did that let you play Genesis cartridges so it doesn't seen like it was out of the realm of though. I honestly think not having one is kind of a fail but it won't matter as people will scoop this up in a heartbeat(me included).

Wonder why they do not just toss their entire NES game library on there. I know it is not a space issue.

Sure. I think I'll just unplug the dusty, unused Wii and plug this baby right in there.

Never was a NES/SNES guy (too old to play the system -- was actually studying in college and med school during those years), but wouldn't mind playing some of those with my boy now.

Yeah, I think I read elsewhere that all of these titles are ones already available via virtual console. Was probably pretty easy for Nintendo to slap these in to a small package running an emulator, where something like 3DS specs under the hood would be powerful enough to run.

I've spent $60 on games I've hardly played so it's a no-brainer to pick this up. A fun little toy I can carry around wherever. Yeah I could play these on virtual console but this will be cooler.

Yes, I will keep pushing it, because I believe in my friend and his product. But this is the one you should buy, yes it will cost more money, but you can play ANY game on it as well.

I assume either one would be the generic version without the real teams and players. That's part of the reason I would have no interest in this.

Yeah $60 for the console and thirty games isn't bad at all. Sure you can get these on Virtual Console but you'll wind up paying more if you got them all (I think they're like $8 or so individually depending on the title). Considering it comes with the big catalog games it's a nice deal. Plus it's obviously targeted to people who grew up with the original who are nostalgic. Makes perfect sense from Nintendo's perspective.

I guess they figured they had to have something to sell this Christmas.

Well, it sounds as if you'll able to make it "wireless" by connecting it to a Wii remote. I know, that's silly in 2016.

I wonder how many times they can get people to pay for the same games.

Take SMB for example: The original release, Super Mario All-Stars, SMB Deluxe (GBC), Classic NES Series (GBA), 3DS Virtual Console, Wii/Wii U Virtual Console, etc, and now this device.

Is it emulated on ARM or is it a specially-made chip?
