Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
Didn't do that well, but I was barely halfway to level 30 and this pushed me way into the next level. I did a lucky egg and evolved a bunch of stuff last night, and ended up with new entries into my Pokedex also.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
Yeah, I did a Lucky Egg on my day 7 bonus day and got over 12000 XP for the first catch, then spent the rest of the time evolving pidgeys and others. I can only evolve 3 per minute, so I can't maximize the lucky egg as much as I would like, but it takes the sting out of the 500k needed to go up a level.

I'm still playing a bit. About 30 million experience in. Have had 2 call outs on group chat for unowns but still am searching for one of those to finish gen 2. Kind of unhappy larvitar is so easy to find right now, just going to see gym CP change from to 3100cp+ instead of 3k. Hopefully that means they are retooling gyms...

I'm not really sure where this should go but it's about a Pokémon mobile game. I started playing this today. It's nothing fancy, but it's a fun way to kill some time if you are bored.
The new Pokémon mobile game is about training the best Magikarp you can.

Wow, I hadn't seen that yet. I like when companies embrace silly characters like the community has.

I just bought two tickets costing me $57 for something called the Pokemon Go Fest. I have no idea what it is, but I figure it's local to me, so my daughter might enjoy it.

Totally forgot about getting tickets for the fest, but they did announce a major change to gyms this morning:

There will be six slots, all must be different Pokemon. And there will be raid battles too.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
The new gyms are much more interesting and you don't have to hold it for nearly a day to get coins.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
The new gyms and raids are pretty neat but it's also a blissful out for a long term player. No reason to hold more than a few gyms in high turnover areas to get your 50 coins. Raids are nifty but with gym decay at 10% for mons 3k and up and a limit of 20, why would you bother?
Anyways. Anyone going to the Chicago event? Should be fun if they give legendaries.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
Well, Pokémon Go Fest was a disaster. Spent 2.5 hours in line circling Buckingham Fountain before getting in. I was frustrated, but I felt terrible for the families with small kids and babies spending hours in sweltering heat in a line that barely moved, they were picturing a nice family event walking casually area a park catching rare pokemon.
Once we got in, things really took a turn for the worse, packed like sardines, 10s of thousands spent most of their time trying to get the game to load. When the game finally came up, you had to play the game at one frame every three seconds until it booted you out. Got to see all sorts of new error messages trying to play the game.
They had several raids, and I was lucky to get into a couple, but due to the framerate, you were throwing poke balls like molasses, and it would drop well short of the prized pokemon.
They quickly announced refunds to the event, $100 in Poke coins (not sure if that will be 10,000 or 14,500), and a free Lugia in the game. The only "celebrity" at the event was some teenagd kid that has a YouTube channel on pokemon go. They had a giant stage where they made their apology announcements, but no J-Rock bands or anything that would distract you from the all day miserable event. The had one character in costume, Pikachu, with another hour long line.
The most fun for the event was that they made Heracross and Unowns common in a two mile radius after the event, so I was able to play before and after dinner, more than at the actual event.
But to celebrate the event, Niantic is offering the following rewards will last until Monday, July 24, at 5:00 P.M. PDT:
Double Stardust
Double Candy
Double XP
Increased Pokémon encounters
Reduced hatching distance
Reduced buddy distance

I didn't have much time Monday because of work, but I noticed yesterday afternoon that the double Candy/XP/Stardust was still in effect.
My Daughter started hatching eggs really quick so we decided to go walk downtown. There were a bunch of Ash Hat Pikachu spawning last night, and my daughter hatched two Ash Hat Pichu while we were out.
So far have only seen Articuno at Gym Raids, but they were all in the 36,000 CP range. I haven't found a group working on a raid unfortunately.

We went out Sunday and found a local group doing raids. We drove from place to place taking them down. I ended up with one each of Lugia and Articuno.

Re: Pokemon GO (IOS/Android)
I only tried once for Articuno; I had 10 pokeballs to catch him at the end, and he broke out of 9 of them that caught him, so no luck. It looks like he is only sticking around a few more days. By the time I get home from work, the raids are over for the day, so I'll have to see if I can get lucky this weekend before he goes away and is replaced by Moltres next week.

Got my Lugia and 14,500 Pokecoins last night deposited into my account for the Pokemon Go Fest fiasco. Ticket refund will take another month.

I've recently gotten back into Pokemon Go. I have to use incense though, since I live in the country, and have no Pokemon around me.

I like them too. If I can't find a group for a big one, then I know I can take a smaller one by myself and get some good xp. The biggest I did on my own was 12000 and I still had 3 Pokémon left so I could probably go up to 16k.

I picked back up playing too. Have gone out on a couple of the Community Days, found a local raid group, and caught some legendaries (Mewtwo, Mew, Shiny Lugia, Regice). I'm not even at level 30 yet, but I'm enjoying it.
