Gone Home

So what's the point of this game. I saw it was a free download so I did and played it. Beat it in about 30 minutes or so. Is this the first part of a series? I don't understand the point of putting a game so short out

re: Gone Home

On Steam it shows that it took me about an hour and a half to beat it. It's a little indie game that's supposed to get the player invested in exploring and unravelling the story, nothing more. I thought it was just ok, I know there were a lot of mixed reactions (and probably a little over praised early on).

Re: Gone Home

I played this over the weekend since it was free too. I loved it. Thought it took a simple concept and simple story and made it an engaging and satisfying experience. It felt very organic to me.

But yeah, I can understand why people wouldn't like it and I can understand why the climax of the story may turn some people off.

Spoiler:
I think the problem is that they put out this atmosphere of dread without that being the point of the payoff at all. Why did I feel nervous turning every corner? Because they game wanted me to feel nervous. This, despite absolutely no threat of harm to you. I can see why that would turn people off.
