Madden 17 -- News and Rumors
Madden details probably won't come out until late Spring, but here's the 1st news.

EA intends to have Rams in L.A. in Madden 17
EA Sports has confirmed to us that the team plans to have the Rams playing in Los Angeles in this year's Madden. While it was assumed that the Rams decision to relocate came early enough for the developer to adjust accordingly, we confirmed with EA yesterday.
"The team intends to have the Rams playing in LA in the next game. We’re still working through stadium details and licensing, so nothing specific to announce on that front yet," an EA spokesperson confirmed to us.
It's believed that the Rams will play their seven-game home schedule (one of their games is in London) at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which is operated by USC. However, the ultimate plan calls for a stadium site located at the old Hollywood Park racetrack in Inglewood, California -- about 10 miles from downtown L.A.
It's also worth mentioning that the Rams may not be the only team with a different home next year. Both the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders have the option to relocate to L.A. The Chargers have until March 23, 2016 to decide if they want to move to L.A. for the 2016 season. If no decision is made, they then have until January 16, 2017 to decide and negotiate a partnership with the Rams in Inglewood. If there's still no decision, then the Raiders will have the option to move to L.A. So it's quite possible we could see a lot of shifting in the NFL landscape over the next few years.

If the rams went to LA 1 week before the game went gold they would be able to have the Rams in LA..
Silly they need an announcement of this. They want to act like each year of Madden requires a massive amount of programming.

Well, they need to put the Colliseum in the game. Now having the Chargers move after they put that in wouldn't be too hard.
They're in an odd spot, where the improvements they put in aren't really recognized as improvements by a lot of people, and if they totally overhaul something, heads will roll because people hate change. I did think last year's different catch types was a decent improvement. Still hate all the Madden cards and microtransactions.

Madden NFL 17 announced, launching August 23
Madden NFL 17 is the 2016 installment in EA Sports' long-running Madden NFL franchise, and it will be released Aug. 23 — the series' usual fourth-Tuesday-in-August slot, publisher Electronic Arts announced today.
Developed by EA Tiburon, Madden 17 will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game will be playable early on Xbox One for EA Access subscribers.
EA also announced today that it will debut a gameplay trailer for Madden 17 and reveal the game's cover athlete during the 6 p.m. ET edition of ESPN's SportsCenter on Thursday, May 12. EA had held a fan vote for the Madden box art annually for six years; this will be the first time since 2009's Madden NFL 10 that the publisher, not the fans, will choose the cover athlete.

Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots will appear on the cover of Madden NFL 17, ESPN announced today on SportsCenter.
The announcement confirms an overnight leak from the Xbox Games Store, in which artwork of Gronkowski appeared in product listings for Madden 17. Gronkowski's pose on the final cover is different from the one in the leaked artwork, but he's still spiking a football.
Gronkowski, 26, has played six years in the NFL so far, all of them with the Patriots, and is already one of the best tight ends in the history of the league. He is a four-time Pro Bowl honoree and has racked up 65 regular-season touchdowns, the third-most in any NFL player's first six seasons. Gronkowski is the first tight end to grace the cover of a Madden game.
"It's a dream come true," Gronkowski said on SportsCenter.
Madden NFL 17 launches Aug. 23 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Because of the Rams moving to LA, I'll probably pick this up.
I'm looking forward to playing with Goff and Gurley.
and then we'll have to look at Madden 2020 when the Rams move to their new Inglewood stadium and then that will have to make it into the game.

Madden 17 comes out today. Anyone picking it up?
I have my pre-order coming in from Amazon today. I have a pretty busy week, so not sure if I'll get much time on it this week. Most likely next week.

I'm interested to read anybody's feedback... this is getting some solid reviews. I've ignored the last few years so maybe I'll try again this year.

I'd love to give feedback, but as you'd expect, the EA servers have been up and down all day. Can't get anything done. They should be ashamed, but people will still spend fortune on coins/contracts/packs, so why improve the product?
I was laughing at their twitter feed before. 'Who's going to play Madden all day today?' Well, no one because no one can penetrate your servers.

Downloading the update and waiting on the install, but the servers thing is worrisome; does that affect single player too?
I can't believe the special edition was basically all madden cards and microtransactions stuff. Easy pass for me.

Single player is fine unless you're playing Ultimate Team. MUT requires the servers, so you're humped. I couldn't even draft a Solo Draft Challenge team. Kept booting me. Absurd.

I see they're throwing realism out the window. The initial scenario is the Rams down by 7 in overtime to Washington in a first round playoff game, which I won and they mention that they're off to play the 14-2 Cowboys.

Played a bit of connected franchise as a wide receiver. I have no idea why I haven't played this mode this way before seeing as how I love NBA MyPlayer. So far presentation seems great, and I'm actually excited that they got less popular commentators because they're going to update the commentary throughout the season which is a nice touch.

Re: Madden NFL 17 announced, launching August 23
Finished my first connected franchise season as a WR. I figured out after a couple of games that I better ratchet down the difficulty at least early on to get some exp for my guy, and then I finally figured out how to demand the ball, which basically broke the franchise. My WR ended up breaking almost every single season record, but didn't win MVP or rookie of the year because Goff ended up breaking a bunch of QB records. And now I'm scared to put it back to all Madden for the playoffs because somehow Gurley, Austin and Kendricks are all hurt.
I've also heard that in year two the Rams get a generic stadium and it screws up all the finances for the team. Should've stuck with the Bengals but I miss playing in the Colliseum in a video game.
