For years, hardcore fans have been asking for a TMNT game that lets players team up for a little co-op action, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is exactly what they’ve been looking for. And if online co-op isn’t your cup of tea, you can always complete the campaign individually and dynamically switch between Turtles in the heat of battle.
Long-time fans will undoubtedly recognize the art. The developers took a lot of inspiration from IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book series, blending it with their own distinctive visuals and animation. And lets not forget about the combat. PlatinumGames’ mastery of fast-paced, silky smooth combat is on full display, but referring to this game as an “Action Brawler” doesn’t really do it justice. Director Eiro Shirahama explains it this way:
"We’ve put a lot more into this game than just combat: you can climb walls, glide along wires, and there’s a lot of freedom of movement that ties into the action. With this game, players will be able to feel like they’re the Turtles themselves, running, grinding, and gliding around NYC to prevent crimes."
Each Turtle has a unique stable of maneuvers that bolsters the team’s offensive potential. And when the battle gets really tough, they can combine their strength for an enemy-obliterating team attack. But I should probably warn you; the Foot Clan won’t be easily defeated, even if your teammates are.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is anticipating to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC this summer. In the mean time, you have to ask yourself one very important question: Which Turtle will you choose?

uhhhh.... Platinum Games doing a TMNT game? Fuck, yes. I hope they made a bigger game for this than their TF game.

Hopefully it's better than their Transformers game. The game looked slick, but was shallow and repetitive as hell.

I never played the Transformers game by this developer and don't really know much about them but this looks like it could be fun. I love the old Konami games for NES and SNES from back in the day and would love something similar. I'll probably pick this up if the reviews are good.

I was hoping this was some retro gaming like Turtles in Time... that was some MP fun!

I'm playing the Transformers game now, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it, so I'm all about this. I think the knocks against Transformers is fair, but I just really enjoy the combat. I would love if Platinum was doing the combat for this, and (just to pick someone) Rocksteady was doing the world and story, but I'll take this all day long.

Out now. Still no published reviews. Seemingly disliked by everyone who's touched it so far. (Repetitive missions that frequently revolve around just holding down a button, useless AI teammates, joylessly grueling boss battles...) At least the pain doesn't last long, only taking around 3 hours to finish, and there's no challenge mode or anything to draw you back in for a second playthrough.

That sounds.....less than great. Eventual GameFly rental at best.

They need to just issue a polygonal remake of Turtles In Time.

I'm bummed about this game. I'm not a huge Turtles fan anymore, but I still would have a bought a Turtle game if it was any good.

How about a Dark Souls like rpg with the Turtles and connected levels with enemies from the universe as well as new enemies? Have a leveling system and stuff with intricate boss fights.

That's disappointing to hear. I thought the preview looked like it could be decent but I guess I'll be passing and sticking to retro Turtles games when I feel like playing a good one.

The Transformers game was generally well received though.

Did you play it? It was repetitive, shallow, and controlled like shit. I think some some judgment was clouded because of nostalgia. It did look good though, and I'm sure the new Turtles game looks good too.

It was short, but there was so,e replay ability in grinding and the difficulty really changed at upper levels (the transformers game, that is). This one sounds completely different, the review even mentions it's more like Korra.
If this game was like Devastation but with turtles, I'd be happy, I think. It's what I expected it was supposed to be.

Nope, never got a chance to. If it was primarily a nostalgia thing though, Turtles would be reviewed similarly. It's not.

Honestly if Rocksteady Studios was to get on to a turtles game I would be in heaven.
