Unusual Minecraft Questions
I have two kids who love Minecraft. They play it on their Kindles. I'm wanting to get them a copy for Christmas for our consoles. The consoles we have in our house are PS3 (2) and Xbox 360 (1).
What I'd like to do is get them each a copy for PS3, so they can be playing with each other at the same time online (one on each console). Is this possible?
If not, would one copy support multiple saves (one for each kid)? Could they visit each other's worlds?
Is one version (360 vs. PS3) noticeably superior to the other?
Sorry for all this, but I am absolutely clueless when it comes to Minecraft.
Thanks for any and all help.

They wouldn't be able to visit each other online if they're using the same "copy" of the game and the same online Gamertag. If they each have their own online account, then one can use the game on the "home" console (on the console on which the game was purchased) and one can use it with the gamertag of the person on whose account the game was purchased.
The game looks the same on both. My advice is to buy it on the system you plan on upgrading to for Next gen. It's a $5 cost to upgrade from 360 > Xbox One or from PS3/Vita to PS4.
If they have a Vita, then the PS3 version comes with a PS Vita version for free.

Re: Unusual Minecraft Questions
Upgrading is probably a ways off, but that's good to know.
So if I bought two physical copies of PS3, set them up with a gamertag each, they could play online together? You don't have to have Playstation Plus to play online together, right?
Is there splitscreen?
Again, sorry for all this, as I'm usually pretty up on video game stuff, but I am completely in the dark on Minecraft.
I'm going to assume no cross-platform play (one on Xbox one on PS3).

Yes to splitscreen (at least on the 360 -- I bet it's the same on the PS3. I can check if you need me to). My son plays the game splitscreen with his friends ALL THE TIME. He loves to show off the houses and caves he built to his friends.
Do not need PS Plus to play online on the PS3. You do on the PS4 (and you need a Live account on the 360 and XO). Actually, come to think of it, maybe one copy is all you'll need on the PS3 to play online since you can gameshare the copy among two consoles and they'll each have their own online id. Not 100% sure about that though.

Re: Unusual Minecraft Questions
Ah. Splitscreen probably changes things then. I was operating from the idea this is a solo game. Can they work/play/build together on splitscreen? Because that probably solves my problems/answers my questions right there.

Absolutely. Depending on how much they fight during construction.
