I'm torn. I love this series and play it a ton, but I think I'm fine playing myplayer on last year's version for a while longer, since this, like most sports games, drops like crazy in a month or two after release. Also, I play it so much that I'm thinking of going digital, which eliminates the GCU temptation. We'll see, I'll probably buckle like I always do. Though they always seem to have problems with the game early on.
I really hope they let you update stats individually again, or at least make it a little more granular. I understand their reasoning for doing it the way they did, but it didn't seem to be as much fun. And I know VC is here to stay but I still hate it.

I love this series too and have a blast playing it, but it's difficult resisting getting it right away. The game and updates are so tied into the current NBA season that waiting months for it to reduce in cost will shorten it's lifespan fast.
Not sure if I will cough up the extra cash for the Jordan special edition. That's a lot for some extra trinkets I don't really need.
The story mode sounds cool.

I like alternating Madden and NBA 2K, so this is a 2K year for me. I'm interested, but the VC stuff got tiresome for me last time around with the My Player mode. Kind of hesitant, but might get this anyway and spend less time on that mode.

NBA 2K16 will feature some college schools. 2K has acquired the licenses from 11 schools and possibly more. This is not sanctioned by the NCAA though, so no mentions of anything NCAA in it.

Full trailer. Looks good. I do like the photo bombs on the interviews.
The one feature that I'm looking forward to is the story mode. That should make it fun than playing a generic 82 game season.
Keep in mind, this and Live 16 are the last games that will feature current Kobe Bryant. Of course he may be featured in some greatest teams collection in future editions.
Has anyone pre-ordered it yet to get it on Friday the 25th?

I decided to pre-order it through the Microsoft Store for XBox since I had $10 off through a cereal coupon and expect 15,000 reward points back. Haven't played NBA 2K in a couple years, so looking forward to it.

I've been playing 2K15 MyPlayer like crazy lately, and it is the one franchise I'm always sure I'll play a ton of... but I'm also sure there will be many maddening bugs at release (possibly save-destroying ones) and that it'll drop like a rock soon after it releases (by virtue of Black Friday and Xmas sales, if nothing else).

Yeah the bugs in the prior year versions were brutal. I remember not being able to play 2k14 for almost two months because there was a crash to the dashboard bug.

Fine, go ahead and dust off your Lakers vs Celtics Sega cartridge.
Seriously though, they probably can't get the rights to use the likeness of West, Cousy, Chamberlain, Reed etc. it's been reported that Charles Barkley refused to license his likeness.

Is this game coming out like a month earlier than normal? I thought it usually releases in late October.

Pre-Ordered today to get it on Friday the 25th.
$64 and change. I'm a whore to this series and I'm looking forward to playing with some of those classic teams. Probably going to pass on this years Madden even though it's on sale today.

Didn't even see that Madden Amazon sale today.
Shoot, with GCU and $10 preorder bonus, I finally gave in and preordered NBA at Best Buy. Ugh. I hope they don't have massive network problems again.

I love Amazon as much as the next guy, but why not get it at Best Buy?
The free shipping (for anything over $35 bucks) says it'll get it to you by Friday.
There's a $10 bonus credit you get as a mybestbuy member (free)
If you have GCU, you get 20% off all games (30 bucks for 2 years of it. May not be worth it if you only buy a few games a year and never new)
