Kenny, I preordered the Gold version for around $60 during the $25 Visa Checkout deal week. I wasn't sure if I would keep it. If it gets good reviews, I'll pick it up and play with you sometime.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Good deal...the more the merrier as they say.

I saw several of the Closed Beta Reviews on some game sites and they had a fun time with it and yes there were some issues and all but overall they had FUN....

We played the open and we liked it and there were some areas to fine tune and fix...like the AI if you were playing solo but this game is meant for co-op. We had fun exploring and driving everything...sucked at the helicopter....but dirt bikes at night...a blast. I bet the average review is going to be around 8.5 of 10. But good grief the areas and overall map...you put Far Cry 4 in it and still have plenty of room. Hope to see you and other on....

Decker...I saw your message but we were sort of engaged at the time and couldn't break away to reply till almost at the time of calling it a night....

All-in-all...I like the play, style, look and above all the sheer open world where you have no script to follow and it's basically the largest sandbox I've ever seen in gaming.

It's not as polished say other games like Horizon, some COD, Battlefield, Destiny, Bloodborne where details really stand out but it's far more open with far more freedom where anything can happen and anything can be around the corner. Anyone who has played Far Cry's can expect somewhat they same adventure without any strings attached except by how you level up and what you have to play with.

We spent most of the time on foot and there is a lot of stuff off the main roads to see and do. And when you do come across a key area and clear it out; you might get more missions and point to tackle. It's like you do one, 2-4 might pop up on the map. Go do one of those and a chance that 2-3 might pop up that is a different type.

We did some small towns, a Government Controlled Listening Post, Cartel Checkpoint, a Casino controlled by the Cartel, a Key Hideout, a Supply Depot, taking down a convoy while just finding all sorts of places and buildings...and at the end of the night we looked at the map and we were no-where close to where we started over in the next province and didn't even know it....

There are still questions...like hat happens if someone a few to several levels joins...do they scale up or enemies scale or what. Some things you do share but others you do have to do...like tagging supplies, everyone has to do that while hacking and getting key information is shared when one does it. But we played with three of us for most the night and that was fun though if everyone is not on the same page you can get spread out to thin real fast without knowing it....which happened a few times last night. We sort of started to resemble Rambo Recon instead of Ghost Recon which can be good or bad depending on the mission.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

The biggest question is it that much different than The Division? After spending over 50 hours with that game last year, I don't know if I want to go back to something that similar so soon.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Thanks. I didn't get to play because it took so long to install (and my best friend was watching two hours of The Voice with his fiancé ). As I mentioned on the PS4, I redeemed the Gold DLC code and got the deluxe content but not the Season Pass -- doesn't even show that I own it in the PSN store. Checking online message boards, this seems to be a universal problem with physical copies of the Gold Edition. Just what you want to see when you buy a $100 game!

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Sadly...the "Gold & Season Pass" has encountered issues for lots of players and it's known on the official Ubisoft Forum. My friend, kanji got the Digital Gold several days ago but didn't have any issue at with any of the content, the vehicle and boosters. From what some are saying it appears to be with the physical copies mainly. I had the Deluxe Version pre-ordered thru Best Buy but when I went there yesterday they didn't have it and in fact were shorted several versions....Gold and Deluxe for both XB1 and PS4. But hats off to Best Buy...manager came and explained what was going on and gave the normal game for Free.....yes Free....

I am going to get the Season Pass but I'm going to wait & see what's going on and where the issue is. Other than that just play again...

We played The Division and loved it but this is far different yet somewhat the same in some places. The biggest difference is the world map. You have plenty of freedom in The Division but the setting while huge would fit in one small province in Ghost Recon. The Division has a different leveling, commerce and collecting element that is more detailed and revolves around the game setting and character whereas in Ghost Recon it's opposite....you're primary function is collecting and hacking intel and helping the local Rebels and taking down the Cartel

.....Both the Division and GR have various types of missions along with Bad Guys to take down along with a long list of weapons at your disposal....but the how, various areas, settings which alone is impressive inside GR is different. We love the look of The Division with the details and weather but with GR, you'll be in a desert, jungle, mountains...there are 21 regions in GR with 11 different ecosystems. The Division has New York and Winter.....

I was listening to the Bombcast today and they did not have kind words for this one. I still want to check it out eventually and it looks like our library is going to carry it so I put a hold on a copy.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

I fired this up last night and played thru the first mission. I loved it... so far. Using a drone to tag the bad guys and then assassinating them in unison with your team is hella fun. I don't have expectations that this game will hold my interest for that long - especially after coming off playing The Division (which was disappointing to me). But as a placeholder until I can get my PS4 fired up and play some Horizon, it'll do.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

I am curious about this game. I didn't play The Division, and lucky I didn't by the sound of it. It reminds me of Mercenaries on the PS2 which I really loved. By the sounds of it I might be best waiting for a price drop though.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

I could see where it will start to feel too big... I appreciate the scope but don't need a billion similar missions -- which is basically what The Division was. I think Far Cry 4 nailed the perfect balance of this type of game... I hope I'm wrong about GRW because I did dig the ability to stalk my prey or go in guns blazing if I felt like it.

PS - I'd be perfectly happy with this type of game back in the good old confines of Las Vegas streets and hotels. That Tom Clancy game nailed it.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Pretty much like FC4, you can approach the game in whatever fashion you want going anywhere you want and doing whatever missions you want. However...some have mentioned the "receptiveness" as a concern. Face it..there are only so many style "Missions" you can put in a open world game while trying to keep everyone happy. Doesn't matter if there were5 of 20...after awhile some would complain doing the same thing over and over.

But unlike The Division there are different locations with different settings and different eco systems in place to at least make it feel varied. No, the game is not perfect and yes you will feel like, "didn't we do this before over______". But like FC4 you do have the locals to take care of and make it a 2v2 (Cartel and Local Government who is bought off) which you also throw in solo or co-op and several ways of tackling it while dealing with some massive insane world.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Speaking of insane, it's insane that Ubisoft hasn't fixed the issue with Gold Edition not getting their Season Pass content -- it's not even listed in the Known Issues thread in the Tech Support forum.
They made me send them all these pictures of the receipt and the insert, but haven't even acknowledged the issue yet.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

That is bad....I ordered the Season Pass and had no issue but as mentioned it seems to be with the Gold Edition physical copy. My friend ordered the digital Gold Version and had no problems.

The issue is only with Physical copies. The codes they include are incorrect and only provide the Deluxe content.

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Well I have played my fair share of games where it's similar missions replayed over and over and to be honest I have enjoyed the hell out of a lot of those games (Assassins Creed Black Flag and Syndicate, Just Cause 2, Mercenaries). As long as those action missions are fun then I don't mind. A lot of times I appreciate a game where I can play a single action mission and then turn it off. Time can be a factor.

Well I will grab it on a price drop (or if anyone selling a copy for $40 drop me a line).

Re: Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Wildlands

What a night last night and probably the best co-op experience I've had in a long time. I don't recall a game where you can have multiple drop-in and drop out and still seem like fluid and not even a hiccup along the way....it started...

Gator was on and invited me to help in some areas. Then he wanted to do a mission where me and kanjji had failed. She sends message saying not ready yet, go ahead.....we do and fail. We go and do another one we had failed before and passed....kanjji is doing the same solo and passed...

Gator, me and kanji go and try the first one along with some others. Gator is doing some areas where me and kanji already did getting the intel, flie or whatever....

Then Decker joins when we are trying to do break-in and secure for me and kanjji but Gator already did. Then we do a Town for Gator which me and kanjji already did. This is the first time for Decker while me and kannj are Level 8 and Gator is 9....

Decker has to leave, we three head to another spot then a friend of kanjji and mine "Swain" tries to join but his NAT is screwing up and can't but at the same time another friend "Ate-by-Zombies" joins and the four of us goes on a area rampage clearing out a lot of stuff and finishing the first area which we all needed except Zombie.

The Zombie has to leave leaving the three of us, we finish one small area and then kanjji leaves due to getting late. Then Zombie comes back on for a short time and leaves again leaving me and Gator to end up dealing with four UNIDAD groups including two helicopters. Somehow we survived...these guys are tough...and called it a night....

...that by all means was what co-op play was and should be all about....
