Madden 16 -- 8/25/15
Cover star is Odell Beckham from the NY Giants
New York Giants Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. defeated Rob Gronkowski to be named the cover athlete of Madden NFL 16.
Over the past two weeks, fans have voted via Madden Ultimate Team, Madden NFL Mobile and ESPN.com culminating with Beckham being revealed as the victor during a special segment on SportsCenter.
Beckham joins an exclusive fraternity of cover athletes comprised of some of the greatest NFL playmakers of all time.
Beckham is one of the NFL’s most explosive playmakers, highlighting an exceptional rookie season with an electrifying one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys in primetime.
In his rookie season, Beckham broke out with over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns, despite playing in only 12 games.
“Odell Beckham Jr. is a true playmaker and a perfect fit for this year’s game,” said Randy Chase, Senior Director of Marketing for EA SPORTS.
“He’s an unstoppable force out on the field, and the Madden NFL 16 cover is further vindication that the fans believe he’s a player to watch in the coming years.”
Today, EA also released a first look video for Madden NFL 16 showcasing each of the playmakers featured in the Cover Vote. The video provides the first glimpse of Madden NFL 16 in action, featuring all-new playmaking tools that highlight the battle for Air Supremacy.
Additional info about this year’s game will be released throughout the summer.
Madden NFL 16 is now available for pre-order at all major retailers, and fans who place their orders now will receive $15 in Ultimate Team content including 10 Pro Packs and a Playmaker Pack for use in Madden Ultimate Team (MUT). The Playmaker Pack grants fans with an Elite player who they can use to give their Ultimate Team an extra boost right out of the gate and start making the huge plays right away.
Those looking for even more content can upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which ups the ante with 36 Pro Packs and a Playmaker Pack, all for $69.99. *

If they have Playmaker features, they need Drive Stallers as well -- that feature where your favorite Detroit Lion fumbles on 3rd and Goal or runs a 4 yard out pattern on 3rd and 6 only to fall a yard short and forced to try a 53 yard field goal with 5 seconds left.

Luckily for the Giants, the Madden curse doesn't seem to affect WRs, mainly RBs and QBs (though if Gronk won, he certainly would have been out a large chunk of the season).

So I picked this up yesterday. It's very fun, a lot of new overlays including how many touchdowns, picks, etc you have during the year that'll pop on the screen. It'll show you if it's a first career score, or whatever. Just fun with stats and it feels like a real game.
The commentary is a bit better. The graphics look great. The catch and running mechanics are excellent, especially the aggressive catching.
The cons, well as with any Madden game there's a few. My biggest gripe is the fact I can't seem to be able to permanently shut off the Kinect, you have to do it every single game. Total hassle. Yeah, I know I can unplug the Kinect but still.....
Another one is turning off penalties doesn't seem to work. Last year, I was messing around and turned offsides all the way down so I could camp in the backfield and always sack the QB, often to comedic results. Now, no matter if it's at 0 or 100, you're always called for offsides. It's BS.
The menu selection is really, really slow. Almost like there's a delay. Annoying.
The computer never goes for it on 4th down. Even if it's 4th and inches and they need a score. Either a FG or a punt.
AI is stupid when it comes to trades.
All in all, I'd give it an 7.5-8 out of 10.

Played this game last night at a friend's house and I have to admit that it was a lot of fun. I haven't played Madden in years and liked what I saw and how it played. I'm still having trouble running the ball but throwing and catching seem more intuitive and natural. Playing D was actually fun. I might get this closer to BF and Christmas when on sale.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about but I wish there was an option in both this and NBA 2K to play a streamlined game; no pre-game show, no coaches halftime or cheerleaders, just get me into the game and cut down on the loading times.

This week PSN has Madden NFL 16 – Super Bowl Edition (Includes 2,200 Madden Points) for $19.79. Worth it?

I think it's worth it. I have played more games of Madden 16 than I have the other versions in years. Still not perfect but it's come a long way. It's a lot of fun. If you have EA Access for the Xbox One, it's now in the vault.

Played it on EA Access last night and despite not playing Madden in years it's still all the same functionally that it has always been.
My god it takes forever to get started though. You have to play that stupid super bowl which I couldn't seem to get past and then it started with the downloading. Easily 30 minutes from the time I turned it on to actually getting to play a game with my team. EA NBA does the same thing with training. It's just too much to start a game.
