Neither Target nor Best Buy have any special deals for launch day. Just BB's typical 20% GCU although Target does let you take $10 off if you buy a starter pack and another LEGO title.

Bummer.

Man, if I had the time and the money (but mostly the time), I would be all over this. Especially the Portal set, which looks to be both hilarious, and practically a new Portal game - not to mention, freaking Companion Cube Lego!

Yeah, I bought the starter kit, BTTF and Jurassic World stuff for the kids for Christmas, but I already picked up the Portal set for me.

Hell, if you're just wanting the Portal LEGO stuff, just buy it anyway. Kinda pricey for a tiny bit of bricks though.

Re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

The wife and I have been playing this every day since release. It is a time killer. A lot of the tasks are repetitive in nature, but the different worlds do keep it pretty fresh so far. We've sunk a lot of $$$ into it with the 3 add-on levels, the team packs, and most of the fun packs (don't have a couple of the Ninjago and Chima figs yet).

There is a lot to do in this thing. We are still really enjoying it.

I'm wondering how this game is doing. It seems to be put away in a corner at Target and Best Buy compared to the prominent displays that Skylanders and Disney Infinity and Amiibos get. I don't see this game flying off the shelf. (I bet the pricing doesn't help).

I read that it outsold Infinity and Skylanders its first week. However i don't know since then. It is Lego so I am sure it is doing pretty good. I love Lego, but I am steering clear of it. I have alot of infinity stuff and i am dabbling in Swap Force right now. This genre is killer on the wallet. If I was single and didn't have a penny pincher wife I would be in reeaaaal trouble. I would go crazy buying this stuff. I am waiting until Black Friday to get anymore stuff. However I am not sure I can fight off the urge to buy Darth Maul on Nov 3rd.

Re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

I am thinking of picking this up tomorrow along with the BTTF pack. The only issue is I heard the BTTF level was 20-30 minutes and that's it. I don't plan on buying any other packs right away. I barely play DI 2.0 (haven't gotten 3.0 yet) so I'm afraid this will just sit on the shelf.

At least this game has something to do. Every time I played DI, it seemed like I was running around doing nothing. There was no point or plot.

Re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

The "level" does seem shorter than the others, but it takes longer than the 20-30 minutes if you want to do everything. I think the BTTF "world" is one of the more interesting ones, though.

For the game in general, I highly recommend getting a figure that can fly (Wonder Woman or The Wicked Witch or good ones to have). We are still playing this daily (since release). All of the levels and worlds are pretty fun.

Pretty cool that they got Michael J. Fox to do Marty's voice.

Now he just needs to pick up an xbone before xmas!

^^ Having played through everything open to this point, I highly recommend getting a fig that can fly (Wonder Woman or Wicked Witch).

Dimensions has been out a while, for those who have it what is your review? Good? Not worth it?

I haven't finished the Level Pack level yet, but it certainly starts strong. If you like the show and you have the Best Buy Gamers Club discount thing, I think it's probably worth it.

What would you like to know? The level is good and of decent length. My wife finished that and most of the world in a single day, but it was a lot of fun. You can play any of the doctors once you finish the level.

The TARDIS fig opens up a few things from other levels as well.

The Wii U version has a problem with freezing in one of the time shifts, but there is a workaround.

Re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

I've read conflicting information in "reviews" so I'm asking those of you who have, and play, the game.

Do you reconfigure the objects to make a *different* in-game item?

I've read some items have three buildable configurations that show up in game. I was considering gluing the figures together to avoid the inevitable loss of pieces but if they have buildable in-game reconfigurations I'll have to ditch that idea.

All of the objects/vehicles have 3 different build configs, but you do not actually have to change the physical lego piece to use a different config. What you do is "upgrade" the piece/vehicle by using gold bricks and coins throughout the levels and worlds. That unlocks the instructions for the different builds, but you don't actually have to change the lego piece. It writes what you have bought to the little RFID tag in each piece. Once you upgrade the piece you can select from any config (from a menu) that you have bought. So actually, you really just need the RFID base pieces for everything to play the game.

The TARDIS configs are not as drastic of changes like some of the other ones.

Hope that makes sense.

Some quick/crappy cell phone pics. I have a USB extension cable setup and most of the pieces on a TV tray with the portal for playing.

Yep... makes perfect sense and is what I was hoping to hear. The reviews I read that talked about that made it sound like you did a reconfigure/rebuild on the physical toy implying there were little pieces that could be "read" by the portal which needed keeping up with. I'm very glad that's not the case!

Thanks!

Do the packs ever go on sale? I got the starter set for my son at an awesome price but have yet to see any of the packs/kits go on sale and was surprised to not see any sales on these for Black Friday.

Pretty sure they're on sale at TRU tomorrow. Buy one get 1 40% off. Not sure how much a deal that is though with TRU's mandatory markup.

Re: LEGO Dimensions (Multi-Console, 9/27/2015)

I was tempted by Inifinity 3, but sticking with just 1 franchise at a time (Sky, Sky:Giants, Infinity, Dimensions).
