This is probably the most disappointing part of the game. I can't stand how my golfer looks -- and he's supposed to be a recreation of me lol.

I don't know why I'm not playing a full 18 holes.
The courses are nice, the golfer graphics are pathetic and the create a golfer is among the worst any of the PGA Tour games have offered - which is unusual given they've had two years to work this out now.

But for a golf game, it's the best choice out there... I really do need to understand why you only play a few holes instead of a full round though. Does anyone know why?

PS - I'm using Arcade controls and find those to be pretty accurate and fun.

I'll get this on Tuesday for my PS4 and I can't wait to see how it plays. I'm craving a current-generation golf title badly enough that even a mediocre game will make me somewhat happy. I've enjoyed the Golf Club for the most part, but it seems a long way from feeling like a PS4 game.
From a review:

Fortunately, you can play the full 18 holes each day if you want. When you're at the main menu for Pro Career mode, tab over to the "Career History" menu and select the "Round Type" icon. Change from "Quick Rounds" to "Full Rounds" here and your fate will no longer be left in the hands of an AI-controlled dolt.

Re: EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

Even with the problems this game has, I still seem to kind of enjoy playing it. When I switched to the tour difficulty, which takes away the ball arc assist and the path of the ball when you're on the green, I feel like the challenge is just about right (especially with stronger winds). I actually kind of like only using the course map and the top view camera angle to figure out how to hit. My biggest complaint is that I feel like the user should still have more information about the green layout since a pro would have that information even before he gets there.
I haven't tried any of the career stuff yet. I've just played a bunch of "play now" rounds and spent some time with the night challenges. I'd say I've spent about five hours with the game so far, and although (like everyone) I wish a lot of things were better with the game, I don't hate my purchase.

Is there plenty to keep you busy during a career?

I actually haven't tried that yet. I've really just played a bunch of "exhibition" rounds so far to try the different courses. I also used the custom gameplay settings and I feel like I've got the difficulty at a challenging (for me) but fun level.

Re: EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

When playing Classic hit with the 3 button drive how do I add spin or power?

Not sure you can. I think that's in arcade mode only.

Make sure you get ride of the putting line if you are using it. On one of the streams I was watching the guy said one of the best pieces of advice he could give is to get rid of that line.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I've really grown to like the game. I especially liked playing St. Andrews after watching the Open all weekend and hearing about the strategies for playing different holes.

For anyone just starting out, I really recommend using the 3-click system for swings. You can tweak the settings for the level of penalty you want if you miss each click, and I found that overall it's a satisfying system. I actually get a feeling of satisfaction for a clean shot or putt. Also, the course selection isn't feeling too limited to me yet. I don't mind playing the same courses repeatedly and feeling like I'm figuring out different things about each one.

Once I switched to arcade I am really enjoying it as well. I will get rid of the putting line tomorrow and see Yao it goes. I just got my pga tour card

Re: EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

I finally pulled the trigger on this. Golf Club was okay, but just didn't fill my golfing needs.

So far I'm very impressed. One complaint I had with most if the TW games was that it was too easy to hit straight shots with the stick. This one with the difficulty cranked up feels like a nice challenge.

The putting is good this time around. I use just the grid(no beads). Usually that part was a weak link, but again is done well for RM.

I agree with redcat about the course number. I'm fine with the amount. I find when there's so many that I never really learn them. In my real golfing days I played 2 or 3 courses regularly. I still know the one course by heart even though its been 20 years since I played there.

Sure the game is lacking a few things, but I bought NHL 15 last year and it had the same issues and still played the crap out of it. Features for that were added at various times too.

Looking forward to getting my created golfer up to snuff

Re: EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

I thought this game was too easy. Playing 20 and 26 under par. The. I played a course in Ireland. Somehow it became far more difficult. Lol

Re: EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.

I just played the course that was part of the latest update (Stadium course at PGA West) and loved it. While I would like to see some variety in the camera angles for each shot, I continue to really enjoy this game and I'm always excited to play each new course. It fills the niche that I love about video game golf - the kind of casual game where I can pour a couple of drinks and relax after a day at work.

Awesome; thanks! Can't pass it up for that price. Tiger 10 was the last I purchased.

Honestly, I'd wait for that. I was so anticipating this title and it's a stinker.

It came out before Madden 16, and that just went in. My guess is it will go into The Vault in the Spring followed by NFS by E3.
