No one's said yet, but I'd expect there'll be an export fee the same as there was for the other exportable disc games (Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Lego Rock Band, Green Day, and maybe some others I'm forgetting).

Although a lot of sites are saying that RB4 will support the existing plastic instruments, Harmonix seems to be more cautiously saying that they're doing everything they can to make this happen but it's not a lock yet.

That's fine too, as long as all the games you mentioned remain free. I already exported all that crap

Can I use my wireless Guitar Hero guitars...the RB Fenders suck.

Other than that, I'm in 100000% and will buy 2 guitars if needed.
I don't think any of the existing wireless controllers will work, unless they create some sort of dongle to convert it to USB or to their new wireless protocol.

Aargh, I posted before seeing this:

One big question mark as far as DLC is concerned is Rock Band 3. Sussman told us that there are currently no plans for a Rock Band 3 disc export. However, he qualified that with a caveat, saying that Harmonix wanted to prioritize the items that were important to its fans. If fans want to see a Rock Band 3 disc export, then let Harmonix know via sources such as Twitter and the official Rock Band forums.

I thought Halo 5 would be the only possible thing to get me to buy an X1 but now RB4 makes one a definite purchase for me. I was set to just buy a PS4 and call it a day but looks like an X1 will be in my future now for certain due to my back catalog with RB.

Hell, I had a party this past Saturday and broke out RB because so many people requested it for the last party (I was too drunk to set it up) and it was again, the hit of the party.

Looking forward to it. I just hope they get my Fender to work (or release a new, similar one) . I don't know if I can go back to the original super-light guitars. I have a hard time playing with anything else now.

I will buy this.

I will buy a new guitar.

I will buy any new songs they release that aren't Avenged Sevenfold.

PS3 & X360 both used dongles. neither connected directly to the wireless in the console.

That's very untrue for the 360. They licensed the MS wireless tech.

I hope they just release a dongle for the X1 to use all the old wireless stuff. Just make it $20 or something, better than buying new guitars

Actually, they would have to do something for free, since even their own drum set was wireless. Hmmm....

I kinda agree. Not only because the genre was beat to death, but as a platform jumper, I would be starting with 0 songs, so my interest level isn't very high at this point.

As mentioned when the RB thread was bumped for new DLC, the bands they get on board aren't going to change(look at the new DLC ). There will be no magical Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or the like announcement. It kinda is what it is at this point.

After all of last gen, it's apparent, the only place I will get the songs I want to play is through customs.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

Welp, this pretty much made sure that my next console will be an XB1 since I have a TON of songs (as do many here) on my 360. I don't even want to think right now about how much I've spent on packs and DLC. Really impressed that those will carry over even if all I use it for is a glorified Karaoke game. Hrmm, now where did I put my microphones...

I was still buying DLC after I had basically stopped playing the game. All my stuff was on 360 and I recently got a Xbone so I'm expecting to be sucked back in. Someone brought up the game recently and that got me thinking about it, and now this hits.

if they somehow make me have to go through my PSN download list to find and download all my RB DLC individually I will leave a flaming bag of poop outside HMX offices every day for a year.

This is exactly what will get me to buy a next-gen console (and the brand I thought I wouldn't buy, X1). I was thinking of having a RB party this morning!

Me: Hey wife, Reverse Cowgirl is getting back together!
Her: What the fuck?
Me: ROCKBAND 4 LIKE A MOTHERFUCK, but now we have a new guitarist!
Her: Jesus Christ. Do you have to rebuy all the songs?
Me: NOPE!
Her: Instruments?
Me: YUP! (knowing damn right I might not have to)
Her: How fucking long is it going to take to download it all?
Me: DON"T FUCKING CARE!
Kid: Mom, why is Dad swinging his underwear above his head?

Definitely. That was a pain in the ass for the Pinball FX2 tables on XO and I only had to do it 15 times or so. I can't even imagine this without a "Download All Licensed Purchased" option.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

I wonder how this will work if I deleted all the DLC off my hard drive to make room for other stuff on my 360. If I can download it all again through the marketplace on the Xbox One, I'm in. This, Tomb Raider, and Halo 5 make the Xbox One a must purchase for me now. It's just a question of when.

Man I hope they utilize a Zen Pinball like "Import All" option. Having to sort through all the available tracks to re-purchase and download all the songs individually would SUCK.

It'll probably work like Dance Central. If you previously purchased the song, the option to "Install" appears instead of having to buy the song. I could see this becoming a pain for those with large libraries.

Re: Rock Band 4 (XB1/PS4, 2015)

Awesome news. I'll buy in, even if I have to pick up a new guitar (I only have Guitar Hero stuff, because I'm dumb and backed the wrong horse)

I love that they're making it an ongoing platform, as it should be. Hopefully it also means they lock in those licenses long term.

I REALLY HOPE they're smart and introduce a subscription. $60 for the game up front, then $30/year for every song that ever gets released, as long as you keep your sub? That would be perfect, IMO, as someone who doesn't have a massive RB catalog already.

It sounds like 360-to-PS4 or PS3-to-XO folks will still be able to transfer your content, just not necessarily as much of it. If you own both next-gen consoles, it makes sense to stick with the easiest carry-over option (360-to-XO or PS3-to-PS4)

Naw, the Guitar Hero guitar was superior for a long time.

I think you're misreading the FAQ:

Q: Will my old DLC work if I bought a different next gen console, i.e. Xbox 360 -> PS4?
A: Cross platform DLC compatibility is not entirely within our control, as DLC ownership is managed by the 1st parties.
There's no way MS & Sony will allow that.

Sounds like a potential nightmare, but I'll wager they trickle out the old DLC slowly, probably 10-20 songs at a time.
