@ dsa_shea
But why does it matter? I'd rather them take all the time they think they need to make the best game possible versus releasing an unfinished or unpolished product just to hit a release date. It's not like there isn't anything to currently play on the PS4 and in the future leading up to UC4. At least they recognize they need additional time and Sony isn't forcing them to push it out the door.

The last game Naughty Dog delayed turned out OK.

I don't mind when these delays happen as long as they are in the interest of making the game better. Few things are worse than a rushed game.

Yep, I'm sure Sony would've loved to compel us all to get new consoles for the holidays, but I'm glad they're in a place where they don't feel the need to rush out a flawed game.

Did they ever say this was coming out in 2015 to begin with?

Yes, and in big, bold letters in the E3 teaser last summer too. The PS Blog I linked to up there treats it like a delay, and that's out of Naughty Dog's own mouths.

Oh, well they shouldn't have done that. *cough*Halo*cough*

All E3 teasers should just end with "SOON."

Wasn't there once an E3 trailer that joked around with game delays ending with "SOON" followed by "EVENTUALLY"?

The Mirrors Edge sequel/reboot thing did that, IIRC

Shouldn't be much longer before a delay for Tomb Raider gets announced as well.
I doubt it. If anything, MS is going to do everything in their power to get it out at Christmas. It will probably be a bigger seller now that here's no direct competition from a similar game.

Tomb Raider probably won't sell many consoles like Uncharted will. I agree with the sentiment that Sony is in a good place right now to not push this game out the door.

Rock Band is going to sell more Xboxes than Tomb Raider will.

Yep! I could tell by that thread that people are chomping at the bit to get back to plastic.

Well we are already almost 1/4 of the way through the year and with the lack of gameplay footage so far I really can't imagine it being anywhere close to being finished so I highly doubt it comes out this year.

They can rush it out the door this year on the One and then release the finished product a year from now on the PS4.

Same here.

Uncharted 4 and Arkham Knight are the only "must have" next-gen games for me. I can wait another year for Arkham.

I am kind of hoping that maybe we will get a "remastered" Uncharted trilogy in 2015. Those games are the main reason I still have a PS3. I want a remastered trilogy just so I can get rid of that console.

Delayed?? Dammit...

Well hopefully ithe Canadian dollar is closer to par by spring 2016. A bunch of new AAA games are now showing up as $75 CAD. Bullshit, I tell you.

Making games is really hard.

Also, it's pretty difficult to recover from launching a dud in this industry, so studios really need to get it right at launch.

I wonder how much of the delay(gaming in general) is the bean counters setting unrealistic launch dates.

re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4, 5/10/2016)

If the game needs more polish, so be it. I would rather it release in a complete, working fashion, than go down the Unity or Master Chief Collection route.

This doesn't worry me as much as the loss of Amy from Naughty Dog. I still have my concerns that the story will take a hit due to her departure and the influx of the Last of Us team, but I have faith in the team, overall.

I'm not bothered by having to wait for UC4. What pisses me off is announcing a release date when you're still in early development. Just wait till your Game is nearly complete and announce a release.

Or at least give a release date that is realistic.

These things usually go hand in hand; dates are important to shareholders for yearly forecasts, which is why you see estimated release dates for a particular quarter since publishers plan around that. It's easier to delay a game if you're part of a large publisher or company that has other products that can make up for a delay during that year or that quarter, but otherwise more often then not studios are pushed to hit those dates. Hence all the crunch time horror stories in the industry.

Obviously the big studios get a little more leeway, and in Sony's case they're obviously not hurting their console sales which probably helps let them give Naughty Dog the time they need.
