Wait a minute. So I pre-ordered the Zelda amiibo long ago...but that's not wave 1 or 2. Wtf.

Went to a couple of stores and saw most of the first wave in person. Really impressed. I think I might do that 3/$30 to get Donkey Kong, Fox, and Kirby. My disappointment with Link, though, is furthered by that downward expression he has. You can't really even see his face without tilting him! Between that and the ugly yellow stand, I really wonder what Nintendo was thinking.

Only picked us Samus for now, but I'll probably end up getting the original Super Smash Bros. roster more as collectible display figures than anything else.

Found a Marth today at Target so now I have the full set. I knew the pre-release complaints was just the internet being the internet and of course now that I have them in front of me they look fantastic.

I picked up Wii Fit Trainer, because of the rarity, and my first Loot Crate is on the way.

Yup. My three came in today, and they all look fantastic. Even without the in game functionality -- which I only played with briefly -- I'm very satisfied.

Heh, when I read the story about that production error and that the guy decided to get the normal Samus I was like "What the fuck are you thinking, that two arm cannon Samus is going to be worth quite a bit in the future."

My Samus is already at Level 50 and I just got Mario a few hours ago and already have him at Level 42. I really think these Amiibos are better than Level 9 Computer Players, so for me it's worth it to have some actual adversaries for a change.
Has anyone tried online yet? I don't know enough people in real life who play the game, but would love to have some people to challenge online at some point.

The only one I'm interested in the next wave is Mega Man, only because I've been playing his games since the day the very first one came out, and I've pretty much played all of them. I'm old.

Also Meta Knight is now up for preorder on bestbuy.com. The other two exclusives Shulk (Gamestop) and Lucario (Toys'R'Us) were already up for preorder.

Oh, I thought February was the next wave and that the ones you listed were already out.

There is no January wave -- not in the U.S., anyway.
Wave 1 - November 2014
Wave 2 - December 2014
Wave 3 (which includes Mega Man) - February 2014
The third wave launches a little earlier in Japan, so it is a wave a month there.

wow, i'm getting an amibo for each of my kids and would have picked up a Villager and a Marth but they seemed rare so i got ones (pikachu and peach) that were on sale at target instead.

On the other hand, Nintendo told IGN and Wired that:
I don't know if the way to interpret this (if Nintendo's previous statement is also on the money) is that:
(1) the figures will somehow still be available (perhaps through Nintendo's online storefront?)
but
(2) they won't be in stores anymore
A couple of retailers and at least one distributor has said that they're unable to order any more of these figures from Nintendo.
We will aim for certain amiibo to always be available. These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment.
