Saints Row: Gat out of Hell (it's only an expansion pack)

It looks like Volition are gearing up to announce a new Saints Row game during their panel at PAX Prime in Seattle, later today. Deep Silver sent out the following teaser image this morning with the title “SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES”.
However, the link to PAX is something that was picked up on by CVG earlier this week, as they noted the description of Volition’s panel – set to run from 6PM-7PM UK time – read:
The developers behind the Saints Row franchise invite you to participate in a quiz show hour with Natalie Lander, the voice of Kinzie! At the end of the panel, we’ll show you exclusive gameplay, art, and details for an upcoming project from Volition.
Adding the teaser and the panel’s details together, it certainly seems that we’ll be seeing the announcement of a fresh entry in the Saints Row series, and I have a sneaking suspicion it might have something to do with the devil…

The last one was really fun and silly, but got really boring towards the end. I just wanted it to be over.

Well, that was extremely underwhelming:
During a PAX panel Volition just announced a new Saints Row. It's called Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, and it'll be out on January 27th. It's standalone expansion pack for Saints Row IV.
The main villain? Satan.

In addition, Saints Row IV is making the superpowered 1000 ft leap onto current gen consoles for 30 of your presidentially stamped dollars. That's coming out the same day as Gat out of Hell.

Well, it looks like my Saints Row IV: National Treasure edition that I just picked up at Wal Mart for $20 is going back. Glad I didn't open it yet. I'll wait and grab the PS4 version once it goes on sale.
Unless that's a mistake, Amazon has it listed for $50.

$30 for an expansion for PS3/360 seems like a ripoff if you can spend an extra $20 and get the full game with the expansion pack for PS4/XB1. Hell, like I said earlier, the National Treasure edition was only $20 and that included the full game plus all of the DLC up to that point.

Saints Row IV for PS4/XB1 is $30. Gat Out of Hell for PS4/XB1/360/PS3 is $20. The combined release of both on disc for PS4/XB1 is $50.
(At least, I hope the expansion is included on disc, because Gamefly.)

I sort of wish that if they are doing a "remastered" release of 4 on PS4/XB1 that they would make it a double pack and put Saints Row The Third in there too.
I dunno...to me 3 & 4 sort of feel like Parts 1 & 2 of the same story, it'd be nice to have them together on the new gen.

Saints Row IV was originally started as a DLC expansion for III. The decision was made, probably by THQ, to expand it into a full game. That's why it has the same map, and is pretty closely tied to III.

I love SR3 and 4. I am not a huge gamer, but I make a point of playing these. I enjoyed some GTA, but have typically lost interest in them. SR 3 and 4 had me playing all the way to the end.
I really expected the next would be an extension of the end credits of SR 4: Time travel.

This has been bugging me for a few years now regarding PAX. I thought it was a gaming convention for the gamers to come together and hang out and play games. But now its been co-opted by the games media and publishers as a mouthpiece with a captive audience. Same thing that happened to San Diego ComiCon. Ugh.
