Thanks mewmartigan, killer and Scott for running through the NFs last night. Too bad we couldn't finish off the raid.

With the rewards they gave us earlier, it probably wasn't a big loss. The Gorgon chest was opened 13 times and the best drop was a universal remote.

Martigan sure did pick the right class when he created his guardian. His Hunter's invisibility is so good that most of the time it feels like he isn't even there with us.

no, we could have 4 maned it but Scott had a power outage and was disconnected from the game and PS4 during Atheon

3 maning Atheon is much more difficult as you have to keep having a Warlock die and self rez after being teleported

the 3 of us left moved on to other things (PoE) and didn't pick it back up when Scott finally returned

No worries. I'm sure we will wind up finishing it in the next few days since we have the Atheon checkpoint.

My younger brother (mid 20's) just picked this up on PS4. He had it on Xbox One at release but stopped playing early due to lack of players on that platform. I told him I'd help him blow through the story mode and get him through the raids when his level is high enough. I fully expect him to get something before me.

Also, I'm sort of regretting deleting my Hunter now. After reading more about it, the new subclass seems like it could be quite useful.

This Thorn bounty is a pain in my butt. I had to buy a void shotgun since I have no viable void weapons except heavy.

In IB, shotguns were 1-shot kills. In regular crucible they aren't and following up with a melee won't get me the void kill. Too bad I can't use heavy ammo synthesis, haha.


So I did 4 crucible matches and I'm at 33/500. Is there a timer on this part of the bounty or will my kill count stay forever as long as I don't discard the bounty (or die 50 times in a row)?

And I can't remember the name of the map on earth that I got ALL 4 TIMES but it isn't very conducive to close in combat...to open.

Thorn bounty and progress earned will stay active on your character unless you delete it

if you think you have it bad, think of some of us who had to do it with a whole lot less options in our arsenal

just make sure you aren't like Gooter and using the Mythoclast (solar)

Void primaries (atheon's Epilogue or Word of Crota) and void machine guns(corrective measure) make this speed up for you. I'd say melee and then shotgun.

yeah, my void machine gun is where I have gotten most of my kills so far.


If I can manage to play for more than 30 minutes at a time tonight i'd be up for some raids.

I finished the thron bounty with only a void shotgun and machine gun on a hunter. It took a bit and was a huge pain in the butt. Although it might be tougher now that you start with no special ammo anymore. So you can't just spam a special anymore without picking up ammo packs.

Yeah, as mentioned above, we were unable to finish Atheon due to a blackout in my neighborhood last night.

After I came back, I was on Earth and just as the wolves started to prowl, there was another brief outage (like 1 second or 2), but it was enough to knock out my PS4 and router.

Very annoying.

So we have an Atheon save on normal, as well as normal gorgon saves. Then of course my traditional Oracle save on hard.

We've also done 2 Crota runs on normal and 1 on hard. So we still have work to do there.

Four more matches, down to 22/500. Fuck that. Debating whether to hold on to the bounty until I get a void primary and let it take up a slot or just dump it. I'm perfectly happy with the Hawkmoon in PvP.

yeah, I'd probably hold off till you get a void primary (preferably WoC over AE) and The Truth RL

you are at a major disadvantage if you are not a Nova Bomb throwing Voidwalker

Haha, that is true. I read one hands on from Kotaku I think that said they had 20 bounty slots in the Taken King demo. I sure hope that stays put in the final release!

oh I wasn't referring to bounty slots but to the fact the hunter will have void abilities with the release

Be happy you have 10 slots. I remember having the Thorn bounty taking one of my 5 slots.

In my day you only had 5 slots for bounties....... and Thorn and Bad Juju took up 2 of them. We couldn't beat the Templar. We had to push him off the side. In my day we didn't have teams of Gjallahorns to beat Crota. We had to beat Crota by pulling your Ethernet wire. In my day we didn't have loot drops all over the place. You had to go to loot caves and kill all the glitchy enemies. And we liked it. We were 5 slot havin, Thorn/Bad Juju holding, Templar pushing, Ethernet pulling, loot clave gitching morons and we liked it and we didn't complain cuz that's the way it was.
