I love how everyone bitches about delays and broken games on launch, but gets annoyed when these guys don't set a hard date or release window.

What I get annoyed about is hyping this game up at two yearly shows in a row with still no clear idea on when it is going to be released.

The E3 showings I agree with, but I'd put that blame on Sony. Bitching at the developers for having ambition just seems silly though. Yeah, let's tell developers to be less ambitious with their work and scale back any attempts at innovation! That sounds great for the industry!

I'm all for ambition, but there comes a point where it gets a little insane to preview feature after feature on IGN Exclusives and hold an ASK ME ANYTHING session when they're still holding back even a release date window.

This isn't letting us know the game is being made, this is a non-stop hype machine. Until they know when the game comes out and are willing to share that information with the rest of the world, I think they should largely keep quiet.

I think the reason he can't give a release date is that the game is coming out the same date as Morpheus and bundled with it. No release date for Morpheus= No release date for NMS.

Completely agree with this as well, some companies start the hype train way too early. The Fallout 4 method of "BOOM, OUT IN A FEW MONTHS" was a nice change. Still, for a new IP and everything from a small studio, developers and companies like sharing what they're working on and progress on it.

I can't speak for this company, or know how much Sony is funding them, but I know in the case of other smaller companies and startups a lot of the early reveal and info is so they can continue to get funding and investors. It's not always the case where you get X million dollars upfront for the entire development cycle.

If it's such a small team Sony should pony up to help get this baby out there.

The most amazing thing would be a release date.

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but I'm willing to bet that once it's out, this will be the biggest wet-fart of a game.

From a technological standpoint it looked amazing, but what's the goal of the game? Seems like it would get boring pretty quickly just going from planet to planet exploring.

I think the goal is "simply" get to the center of the universe.

re: No Man's Sky (PS4, PC) (8/9/16)

I just don't get it. I understand the charm and pull of a big open world playground...but without a clear story and mission structure to pull you forward, the game will be boring. I can't imagine Fallout 4 if all the missions and side missions were removed.

I hope I am wrong...

I don't get that one either. My 11 year old nephew plays the crap out of that game and I just don't get how he doesn't get bored out of his mind.

My son plays it about 2 hours a day on the weekend days. Then he watches videos of somebody else playing it for another four.

I don't like that either...but from my 3 kids, the charm comes with playing with each other and friends and building things. No Man's Sky does not look to have that building mechanic that minecraft has, and it looks to be targeting an older crowd.

Again, I just don't see the pull of No man's sky...

One thing that could hook me, is a solid RPG like progression system with your ship and character. I have not followed this game a lot, so I am not sure what there is but I know there was talk of upgrading your ship. We shall see.

People like different things. You know this. It sounds like this game just isn't your thing. It's okay.
