The biggest problem I see is all the trailers show lush life and dinosaurs, whereas the creators have outright said that this is a extremely rare situation...most of the planets you will encounter will be barren rocks.

There is an hour long Q&A on the Game Informer podcast that should give people a better idea of what to expect from the game. The guy does answer some questions pretty vaguely, but also provides some more details on what you can see and do in the game.

I guess the excitement comes from trying to find planets with life on them?

If this game was in 3D it would about blow everything out there away....

I am pretty sure i know how this game will go. It will come out and most people will complain that its boring, traveling from planet to planet with little to do or interact with. It will end up looking pretty to most, but not have the immediate action that most gamers look for these days.
Personally, i come from the first generation of gamers and over my life i have played a hell of a lot. Games like Mercenary, Damocles, Carrier Commander, Elite and Star Glider gave players a world/universe to explore and it didn't always rely on constant action, but exploration and discovery. Those games still work well for me, and so i don't mind playing a game where i can spend time exploring and not constantly working to progress.

I hope they put in an achievement for exploring every planet to troll the trophy whores.
This is one of my most anticipated games.

At least I have a chance of discovering at least 1 planet before my son does and proceeds to tell me everything about it and what I need to do.
Oh, who am I kidding?

Speaking at the PC Gaming Show at E3 tonight, Hello's Sean Murray said: "We were actually going to announce a release date at E3 2015, but for reasons we can't. We'll announce a release date soon, and when we do, it will be for PC and PS4 simultaneously."

Did we know this was a full $60 retail release? For some reason I thought I read somewhere that it was going to be in the $30 - $40 range.

We didn't know, but it's not surprising given the amount of hype this game has received (not to mention its massive scope).
Didn't know it would be getting a physical release, either.

This game reminds me a lot of Starflight for the Genesis. I loved that game and have been hoping for something similar to it for a long time. Hopefully, this is it.
