Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

EA/Origin Access lets you play the first 10 hours

Good for people wanting to see how it runs on their pc, progress carries over to the full game

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

Hmmm, I'm buying it on the PS4 but have EA Access on the XO. Wonder if it's worth actually playing for 10 hours if I know I'm going to lose all that progress. Might just mess around a bit instead.

Guess we can play this as early as Thursday. Too bad that's exactly when the Tourney starts.

I thought you keep your progress with EA access, but maybe you have to buy it digitally?

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

You do, unless you buy it on PS4 like Decker is doing (or PC).

This is one of my requested features, to be able to retain progress at the game level, not machine specific.

Similarly, buy the game once and play it anywhere, which MS is doing on a few select games, but only PC, not PS4.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

Early word is that the game is overwhelming.

I'm normally fine with that, but I'm already sitting on top of 3 "overwhelming" games that I've barely made a dent in.

I'm good with leaving Zelda on the back burner a bit longer while I tackle this. I just hope I can finish Horizon before then.

Overwhelming as in what it says in the link that Deftones posted the other day?

Wow, I guess there's an embargo on reviewing this game until Monday, but some of the early previews are BRUTAL.

Absolutely not what I was expecting. I didn't think there was a chance in the world I would pass on this baby, especially since I got it with the Best Buy/Visa Checkout deal, but now I'm not so sure.

I'm downloading the EA Access trial so I can see for myself.

There are more positive previews than negative ones.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

I played through what I guess they considered the tutorial mission. It's going to take some getting used to no longer playing as Shepard.

I don't really have an opinion other than it feels like a Mass Effect game so far.

I'm not worried. It's Mass Effect. Besides, Bioware has a few stinkers every now and then. Dragon Age 2 anyone?

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

Its not too distracting for me, definitely a good game so far.

I have less than 2 hours left in the 10 hour trial and apparently I hit a spot in the story where I can't continue until the game launches (it asks me to buy the game to enter a room for a mission).

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

I think I had Access for DA Inquisition and it carried over after I was done, achievements and all. Not doing that this time. I have to try and finish as much of Horizon Zero Dawn as I can before Tuesday.

I loved Dragon Age 2. It was more linear then the other 2 but otherwise a fantastic game with great characters.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

I played the first two ME on the 360 and enjoyed them quite a bit....a good blend of RPG, Action and of course a Space game which is far in between. Didn't play the 3rd sadly. I'll wait for the reviews but got to finish other games on the backburner. But the trailers make this tempting as space like this hasn't looked this good before.

Just one question....about how much is the game actually has co-op...about like the 3rd installment?

Don't know this game isn't really pulling me in yet, just got to the Nexus and i'm a lil more intrigued now

The dialogue and voice acting is not that good at all

Reached the point where parts were locked. Started to feel more like a Mass Effect game I played some more.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

Only got a 7.7 from IGN. The lowest of the series. The first one got a 9.4, part two was 9.6, and part three 9.5.

Definitely a bummer to see.

Gamespot only gave it a 6. Ouch. I can't believe I'm almost considering canceling my pre-order.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

That's not good at all compared to the others in the series. I'll read what the gripes are concerning the lower than expected scores which is a shame since this is the first for the current gen.

Still playing regardless of reviews. It is slightly disappointing they don't seem to have improved much other than combat. Switching loadings seems to be an utter mess.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

I am sure the game has problems, but I always figured it would score lower than the first three games. Maybe not that much lower, but lower. You have a series of review sites...the primary audience for those sites is slowly vanishing into reddit/neogaf. They got blasted the last few years for the high scores for Mass Effect 3. This new game has been blasted for the last few months because of the animations, and strange choices. There was no way this game was going to score high, if these sites wanted to stay cool with the IT crowd.

That being said, it does seem like this one was half-baked...EA has slowly fucked with Bioware since they took over, and it shows.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3/21/17

This line from Eurogamer has me a little worried

It's a game that is more interested in keeping you busy than keeping you in suspense about what happens next, or making you feel the consequences of your actions.
I really don't like busy work in games. I have a limited amount of time to play and want to feel like I'm progressing towards something in the story, especially in a Mass Effect game that has you make so many choices.
