You Can Play the First Two Levels of TimeSplitters 2 in Homefront: The Revolution
While it doesn't look like we're likely to see a new TimeSplitters game anytime soon, Homefront: The Revolution will offer a rather significant Easter egg when it launches this May. You'll be able to play the first two levels from TimeSplitters 2, via an arcade cabinet you can find in the game.
Apparently, the arcade cabinet with the playable Siberia and Chicago levels from Free Radical's manic FPS classic can be found in a prison area located in Homefront: The Revolution's expansive open world. TimeSplitters 2 launched for Xbox, PS2 and GameCube back in 2002.
The last TimeSplitters game to see the light of day was TS2 follow-up, Future Perfect in 2005. Since then, rumours and speculation have been rife regarding a TimeSplitters 4, which has failed to materialise. Homefront: The Revolution developer Dambuster Studios was formerly Crytek UK, and Free Radical before that.
Crytek bought the studio before Deep Silver acquired it and renamed it, meaning that Crytek still owns the rights to the TimeSplitters series. So, while this Easter egg means we get to revisit TimeSplitters, it doesn't necessarily signal that a new game is in the offing *cry*.

Coming out in less than a week and no chatter, which probably isn't a good sign.
Anywho, Best Buy is offering a $10 gift card (NOT a reward zone cert) and a steelbook when you preorder. So yeah, if they are offering that much incentive, I don't have much hope. The last game didn't blow me away, but it wasn't terrible. I'll probably at least rent this one through the library to try it out.

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (PS4, XB1, PC) - 2015
Just read this is supposed to have a 30 hour plus campaign. I find that hard to believe, but it's supposedly more open world like Far Cry so maybe so?
I rented the first one just because I knew it was so short, but actually enjoyed my time. If the reviews are solid and it's truly that long of game I might have to consider this one.

I too have heard (read) this is going to be more open world far more than before and somewhat like The Division and a bit of Killzone:Shadowfall but "rebels/resistance" against a occupying force. Some of the trailers I've seen don't look bad at all. If the campaign is anywhere over 20hrs that's pretty good but I see this as a big co-op game

Update...I came across a few articles that are probably worth looking into......
Homefront The Revolution PS4 Early Impressions Reveal Technical Issues, Unsatisfying Gameplay
http://wccftech.com/homefront-revolu...-unsatisfying/
Homefront The Revolution Review: Far Cry With Terrible Shooting Gameplay, Says Early Player
http://www.thebitbag.com/homefront-r...-player/151607
**I think this is the same player in both stories so take as a grain of salt with one person.
And if you go back to Feb when co-optimus did a hands on review during the closed beta on Xbox One, you can read what they said here....

Ouch, the reviews for this are really low for a supposed AAA release.
Currently a 55 on Metacritic (PC score - the XO and PS4 versions have less reviews).
I got a PS4 version shipped to me from GameFly. Will at least give it a try.

Reviews have started and to say the least.....ouch!
IGN.....5.0

Pologon.....6.0

Gamesradar......3/5

A couple of others are still in progress but the ones I read are all saying the same thing. Sad but on paper the concept seemed really good.

I did want this to be good (was hoping it would be like Crysis), but I can't say I'm surprised that it turned out to be shit. Just as well though, there's more than enough games to keep me busy right now. Who would've thought Doom would turn out to be so much better?

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (PS4, XB1, PC) - 2015
It was the same with the first Homefront....good trailers, possible good scenario & story; just the right buildup till release only to be disappointed. I honestly thought this would be like a little Division & Far Cry but they dropped the ball again......more reviews that say it all....
PC World.....Homefront: The Revolution review: A mess of a game with grandiose ambitions

Screenrant.....Homefront: The Revolution Reviews: A Dull & Disappointing Sequel

A few others are waiting to do the console review but I wonder why bother.....

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (PS4, XB1, PC) - 2015
Sorry to hear this. I had hopes this would right the ship for Homefront. I bought in to the hype for the first one which could be rented and played in a weekend but it wasn't terrible. I'll probably make a trip down to my Family Video after I finish Doom and check it out at least.

PS4 site pushsquare has their review up......5 of 10 stars.
http://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps...the_revolution
The first paragraph pretty much what happened...as the saying goes..."Too many hands in the cookie jar"
The nightmare that surrounded Homefront: The Revolution's development is no secret. After being passed between two different publishers and changing its gameplay in favour of a non-linear style, the title has finally staggered its way towards the finish line after a series of setbacks. But has the extra time and attention poured in allow it to reach its full potential – or has its rocky journey left it badly bruised in the process?

Re: Homefront: The Revolution (PS4, XB1, PC) - 2015
The game is crap. Some interesting ideas but only get it if you like unskippable cut scenes, repetitive missions, and dying more than a Dark Souls game.
Glad I'm only out about $10.

Playing through on Deathwish difficulty and so far the game is...actually ok. I am early, but I don't hate it.
