Yeah, the demo's pretty great. Why the hell can't this game be one of the many that Best Buy is giving a $10 GC with? I'm way more into it than most of what they offer (and I think it's the only Xbox One exclusive game not to get that promo).

The game has digital only collector's editions, but they're each $10 off right now. After the demo is over is prompts you to maybe go ahead and pre-order the game. I got the middle bundle for $70 (normally $80).

I'm a little jelly on this one. I'm a big fan of open world racers like Burnout Paradise and NFS Rivals, and this looks both similar and great. I especially like the off road tire tracks and foliage destruction.
It does have one pet peeve of mine though, and I might not explain this well...maybe find a video or something. In chase cam, it looks like the handling and the camera pivot around the center of the car. It always looks off to me because a car should pivot around its front axle, especially if it oversteers like any RWD car would. It seems like such a trivial thing, but it's huge to me.
Videos to illustrate the handling/camera difference...and to show how pretty FH2 looks:

Re: Forza Horizon 2 (XB1, 360) - Fall 2014
It was a coin flip for me between this and DriveClub. I burned off a bunch of Reward Zone points to preorder DriveClub, and now I'm thinking that coin may have flipped the wrong way. D'oh!
I got swept up in the idea of it being a gift for my by-then-wife, who's a racing game fanatic, arriving the first day back after our honeymoon.

I don't think anyone should pre-order Driveclub. You'll get ample opportunity to try the actual game - not a demo, but a fifth of the tracks and all the game modes on launch day. If you like the game and the handling, buy the game then (either via the $49.99 digital upgrade or via disc). There's no advantage to pre-ordering it. No bonuses, no discounts.
If you used the Reward Zone certs, then that's better than losing them. If you don't like the PS Plus free version, you can return the unopened game and they'd re-issue the certs anyway.

I did think it's odd that plowing through wheat fields doesn't significantly change your car's handling. It seems like you should be skidding around like crazy and slowing way down. Instead it handles like the world's fastest Combine harvester.

I think it depends on the game, but in Forza 5 I always play via the in-car view (except for the right-hand drive cars).

You need to turn off assists and turn on the simulation settings.

Ok, never played the original but I did download this demo. It didn't really feel more "arcadey" than Forza 5 (which was the first Forza game I ever played) but I liked what I played.

Re: Forza Horizon 2 (XB1, 360) - Fall 2014
I usually play with in car view for Forza but the open world nature of Horizons 2 has me using chase cam as it's easier to spot potential shortcuts and obstacles. I also appreciate the fact that the demo offers three very different cars to try out as it highlights just how important car selection will be given the varied race types -- I can't control that Audi to save my life once I get off pavement.

All I drove was the Audi and I had a blast racing off road with it. I was playing with Simulation steering enabled and TCS/Stability off, it didn't seem too bad to keep straight, and drifted like a pro.
Is there a way to switch to the other two cars in the demo after you pick the car?

In either case, my point is that there's no reason to pre-order DRIVECLUB (unlike the bonuses you get from Forza Horizons 2). I would recommend trying the free version out before opening the disc or paying for the full version on PSN. No extra discounts, no pre-order bonuses offered here.
