I'm definitely in the minority but for some reason I'm having trouble getting into this one. I'm about 20% through and I've only seen the main villain once. Does that increase?

Yeah, even before I started playing, I did read somewhere that the bad guy on the cover of the game hardly ever shows up throughout the game. So I sorta' expected that.

Geez people, he's on the propaganda posters! Isn't that enough?
And seriously, their motivation for the protagonist R.J. is super-weak. Am I really supposed to be excited to scatter my mother's ashes at the end of this? Honestly, I think just dropping them from a hang glider somewhere over Kyrat, getting on the next plane home and leaving the war zone as quickly as possible would probably be "Mission Accomplished" in my book.

I think this is my primary issue. It's still a great game but I just think I had a bit more motivation with Far Cry 3's narrative / antagonist. It kind've feels like I'm playing a thousand mini-games in Nepal.

You had more motivation with Far Cry 3's narrative of a random California douchebag kid dropping in from the sky, becoming Rambo, and saving the natives? At least in this one your character has an actual connection to the world of the game.
Also, while I agree that I'd like to have seen more of Pagan Min, you do have frequent reminders of his presence and communication with him via radio. He's definitely in the game more than Vaas was in the previous one, anyway.
I wrapped this game up last night and thought it was exhilarating from beginning to end. It's Far Cry 3 with all of the problems corrected, and one of the best open world sandboxes ever created.

I think maybe part of the issue is how the game starts off, with Pagan Min being a pretty captivating bad guy and saying the two of you are going to "TEAR SH*T UP!" as it rolled into The Clash song, which was pretty darn awesome. That said, I'm totally fine with doing everything else and not battling Pagan Min.

Dude, you were right on cue. It's almost unfair now. The only bad thing is you can damage skins if you're not careful. Minor flaw though.

I was surprised there wasn't an achievement/trophy for that

I'll get the DLC if they're in levels/environments that aren't already in the regular game.

I (and K&AJones as well) bought the Gold Edition with the Season Pass in order to get in on the $15 back/$100 spent PSN deal. Not sure it was the right move, but in this case the DLC sounds pretty substantial. Seriously, Yetis!

Some of the animals aren't where the map says they are. So that was a lot of wasted time until I figured it out...

I'm just loving the heck out-of-the game. I went in to Destiny to check "Xur" and do some things but the pace, action, unpredictability and even the scenery wasn't there. Me and kanji have played the co-op part of several outposts and two forts and they really should've allowed the co-op for the entire part...it's just a blast...and yes even better than in Destiny.
You just can't beat "Dual Elephants".....we came up on one of those Red Pickups with three guys in coming down the road. kanji hit it dead on, stood the truck straight up and before it fell over just like kicking a football I smacked it sending it spinning in the air 100yds down the road. Freaking hilarious!
the other day showing off the game to a friend...flying the gyrocopter, driving checking all the great scenery and then drove around on the boat. Went to park the boat, got out and wham!...Alligator snagged me...we both jumped!
I haven't played COD yet nor Dragons Age but for me FC4 is Game of the Year if not the Best Looking and Realistic. If Destiny can incorporate some Wildlife, some more vehicles to get around and have the Fallen, Hive, Vex, Cobal a little more spread out over each other, it would be even better.....and make sure one vehicle is something like a gyrocopter....that's a must.

While they bothy happen to be first-person-shooters, Destiny and FarCry4 are just two different games trying to do different things. I don't think it's a fair comparison.
Though I have to say, FC4 is far more successful at what it's trying to do than Destiny has been.

Far Cry 4 has gotten more of my time in the past week than Destiny has since it was released. The fun factor is numero uno when it comes to why we play games in the first place and this is much more fun despite them trying to do two different things.
