^ About that, are the Kinect controls required, or can you do it all with the controller? From the ad on Xbox Live, it seems like there's a lot of Kinect stuff in it, but it's kind of hard to tell exactly...

Thats the funny thing there are no kinect controls in it at all, all the drawing is done with the controller!

2) It came out after the launch window where everyone was scrambling to find something to play
3) No demo.
4) It got some mediocre reviews from sites like IGN and Game Spot.

The main criticism for Max was that the reviewers didn't seem to be able to use Max's marker well, but it seems like most people who have actually played it have liked it. Go figure.

Good to know. I might actually buy this today, or... soon.

I despise the lack of demos on the new system. There are several games that I most likely would have bought had I been able to check out a demo.

Yeah, demos for everything was one of my favorite things about the 360. It's like they're trying to be less consumer-friendly with the XB1.

Especially for games for kids. There were several games last gen that I only bought because my daughter tried the demo and fell in love. Otherwise she never would have even known about the games.

Everything else has been covered pretty well, but I'll just throw in that it was always $15. I bought it at that price the day it was released. Totally worth it.
The game did get middling reviews from some outlets, which makes little sense to me after having played it. It's outstanding, one of the best puzzle-platformers I've played in years.

Well, Decker said it was $20, so that's why I checked the current price.
I'm convinced. I'll buy it, only to find out that this and Ryse will be the Games With Gold titles for March.

Sorry, thought it was $20 initially. SO many of them are/were that ridiculous price. And I'm not even spending $15 on an "XBLA"-style game that I can't even try a demo of, unless it gets universally great reviews - which this game did not.

Demos are out. Videos and streaming is the new IN.
So yeah, if you want to check a game, watch videos of people playing the game or something like that. It's not the same, of course. But it has its own pros.

Really? I'm not sure what can beat hands on game play. I know sometimes it can be gimped with it being a demo, but I highly value just getting the feel of a game in most any way to know if I'll bite. It seems highly advantageous to do anything to grab people who are on the fence and sway them to buy.

I don't say that I agree 100% with that, it's just the way it is now.
Now, creating a demo it's a lot of work. And not all games can create a good demo. A sports game? Yeah, that's easy. A fighting game? Same. Almost any other game, they have to consider what part of the game to include in the demo. So they give the right impression of the game.
Borderlands for example. How do you create a demo for that game? When the beauty of the game comes from the grinding. You release a 20 minutes demo and think that the game sucks.
So in this day when the games are released barely finished, it's really hard to work in a demo. Again, I don't expect demos to die, there are games that can be helped with demos.

I agree with bigger titles, a demo is probably a large investment and may not show off the game in the best light. I don't necessarily expect demos for those.
I have come to expect demos from smaller, XBLA or downloadable-only games, maybe the first level or two to see what they're like. I think that's what people are complaining about here.
