Sony made $6.7M in profit (each console sold at $399 nets them back $18).

Microsoft, if selling at the fire sale $449 price point, lost $7.8M (each console sold at $499 nets them back $25). Microsoft also lost more on those Titanfall bundles they sold at $449 as they had to pay EA/Respawn for per license per console first. On the flip side, Microsoft is now "selling" more software per console compared to Sony.

Either way, everyone wins.

We'll all have time to bitch and moan come E3.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I finally realized that the glitch with my mic is a Titanfall problem, not an XB1 problem. When the game doesn't recognize my mic, I can still use party chat to talk to my friends. It's still extremely annoying since I like having my mic during games, and I hate having to hard reset the system to get it to function when it stops working.

Via Shacknews:

Peggle 2 is getting its first piece of downloadable content today, a new Peggle Master with her own power, stages, trials, and costumes. Windy the fairy is available for $1.99, and her presence unlocks the long-dormant "Store" button that's been sitting idle on the title screen.

Windy's "Fairy Flock" power turns random blue pegs into high-scoring purple ones, letting you boost your points and earn free balls. Like all the Masters, her set of stages comes with ten levels and ten trials.

Today's update also includes Colorblind Mode in the options menu. That should make it a bit easier to tell your pegs apart if you're colorblind, which is pretty important for a game that's all about hitting the correct, randomly-selected colored pegs. It joins the Duel Mode as PopCap's reaction to the two most oft-requested fan features.
Three new achievements.

SOLD. $2 is a no-brainer for more of this mindless, one-button madness.

How big is the update?

Yesterday's COD update was 2.3 GB! ouch! And I think it was only some voice commentary.

I hadn't actually touched Peggle 2 since 100%-ing it, so I had to install the DLC and the game's own update. The DLC was only a few hundred MB. The game update was over 1GB, but I can't remember the exact size. Anyway, I was peggling like a boss within 20 minutes, so I can't complain.

I had a lot of issues with that one as well. Tried it many times last night, gave up, then loaded it back up this morning and got it in the first go.

I'm now equally frustrated with the "150,000 in one shot" trial.

Any tip as to how you did it?

On that one, I made sure to get the green pegs right away, then managed to get a bunch of purples in a single shot.

I saved the green pegs for later and also kept one of the "curves" open to do an extreme slide shot.

Well, that worked.
Got the rest of the optional challenges tonight, thus getting all three of the new achievements.
I can now avoid this game until the next DLC is out.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Well I finally took the plunge, just won a system on Ebay. Now this does not sour the purchase if not possible. But if I read the Xbox site correctly, as long as I set the console as the "home Xbox" games that the previous owner have downloaded I'll be able to use as well. Correct? Does the previous owner of said games need to ensure that sharing is enabled already or is this something I'll be able to overcome somehow?

Next, what games as far as XBLA do you recommend getting right away. free or otherwise, currently the system is already supposed to have Peggle 2 on it.

I'm not sure the "Home XBox" function works that way.
If the games were installed on the system by User #1, then he sells it on eBay and deletes his account from the XBox (without deleting the games), I don't think anyone can access the games that were already installed. The games are tied to HIS XBL GamerTag, not the console itself. If his account is still on the system, then you SHOULD be able to access the games, but he'd be really dumb to leave his account on the box after selling it to a stranger.

Figured as much, will be interesting to see once I get the system.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

As for free games:

Killer Instinct - Free to play as a single character. You have to pay to unlock the rest. Fun, but I never ended up shelling out the cash for that.
XBox Fitness - Wife used it once. I had to disconnect the Kinect because I moved it to a room where I need an extension cord, so this doesn't get played at all.
Project Spark - The only one of the three worth downloading, IMO. Basically, it's game-creation software, so you can make your own games using their engine. If you're not into that, you can still PLAY other peoples' games (some of which are surprisingly fun), and they vary quite a bit.

Not free but cheap:

Peggle 2 - As you can see from my posts above, I have a love/hate relationship with this game. I'm obsessed with it, but when I completed the first set of achievements, I had to give it a long break. The DLC roped me in again, but now that I'm done with that, I'm going to move on.
Powerstar Golf - Not amazing, but fun if you want a decent cartoonish golf game.
Halo: Spartan Assault - Only get it if you like top-down twin-stick shooters. I've enjoyed this one for what it is.

full retail and fun:

Need for Speed: Rivals - I love it. Very Burnout-y.
Titanfall - FPS for everyone. Smart player matching, titans for everyone, and jetpacks means people who suck (like me) still have a lot of fun. It's not revolutionary or anything, but if you get a single FPS on the XO, this is the one to get.
Ryse - Short, dumb, button mashing. But slaughtering evil guys is so much fun.

Dead Rising 3 is pretty great too. Skip Forza 5.

I feel like I need to start DR3 from scratch. My current save is at the psycho cop chick (Olga, I think?), and I cannot get past her because my health/weapons/overall skill suck.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Thx guys, yeah figure if I'm unable to play what was downloaded will be buying Peggle 2 any ways since I have still a few points cards from BF still. Already have Ryse put into my queue on Gamefly, as well as Dead Rising 3 as I loved the first 2 on the 360.

Know I will be playing Ghost and BF4 which will be coming in disc form with the system quite a bit.

Can I assume I will definitely need to get a charge n play kit for the controller? If so anyone have an opinion(s) on any of the secondary market ones I see since the one from Microsoft like most things from them cost 2 to 3 times more.

Can I also assume you guys or someone here will keep everyone posted of deals on Live for XB1 stuff like is done in the XBLA thread we have here?

Get the ZAR weapon. Heck, use the ZAR on every boss and you'll have no problems - in my experience.

The Day One consoles are back in stock at Amazon if you really, really want that achievement.
