This is nice to see. Hopefully the rumored updated Switch hardware is part of a holiday bundle with the game.

Best Buy has $10 in rewards for preorders (on top of the 20% if your GCU hasn't expired).

Nice, I don't see a digital option yet, but perhaps they will add one closer to the release date

Think you will be able to use the Pokémon controller from the Let's Go! games? Or do main line games require more than 2 buttons?

I've always played around the edges of this franchise. I've played games like Puzzle Quest, the TCG on GameBoy game, Pokemon Pinball, PokemonGo on mobile. I love the anime, I help my son collect the card game cards.

But I've never played one of the actual core RPG games.

That will change this fall.

Is this a real Pokémon game? I wasted a hundred bucks on that Let's Go Pikachu game last Christmas.

This is from the Pokémon Direct Presentation from earlier this morning. This will be on my Christmas list.

So I never got into Pokemon when I was younger. I think I was just a little too old when it hit big.

Can someone give me like a quick synopsis of what these games are all about? It seems like you pick a main Pokemon, train it up, and then battle other Pokemon. Is that the gist of it? Is it like a turn based battle system?

They're very much like a turn-based jRPG.

Differences being you now have like 800+ monsters to pick from, most battles are 1 on 1, each Pokemon has only 4 moves to choose from during battle (when they learn a new move they must forget an old one to make room), and you can only have 6 Pokemon on you at a time as the others go into the "PC".

If you enjoy turn-based battles and jrpgs, then you'll likely enjoy them. Most of the games are setup similarly: in that there is a new location/area with 8 gym leaders you must earn the badges from by beating them, a professor who gives you your first pokemon (you select out of three options), a rival, and then the elite 4 you conquer after earning all the badges to become the greatest pokemon master.

Concerning the new Legendaries: Zacian (Sword) and Zamazenta (Shield) are the two they showed in the video... and there is speculation that there is a third one out there...
  • Zacian = Za + Cyan
  • Zamazenta = Za + Magenta
  • Za(?) = Za + Yellow

Nice play using CMY in place of RGB.

The legendaries in this reminded me more of Digimon Fusion/Xros Wars than Pokemon, lol.

Beat the Main Story in 21-hours.

Going to go back and track down all the Pokemon I was unable to catch for various reasons throughout my first play-through.

What does it mean when the Pokemon in the wild are kinda flashing? That's not shiny versions, right?

Ended last night at the first gym. I'm so far over leveled already from trying to catch everything in the routes before moving on.

If I'm not mistaken, it means they will net you Watts for defeating them.

With the Main Story completed, I'm currently Level Grinding to get ready for future 5-Star Raids as well as catching Pokemon here & there.

Pokemon Home details are announced. The killer is the price, 3 bucks a month or 16 bucks a year to be able to transfer tiny bits of data from one game to another (plus you still need pokemon bank to get pokemon off of your 3ds AND there are still incompatible pokemon)

https://home.pokemon.com/en-us/

There is a limited free version, though.

I wrapped up the main game today. Took me about 30 hours and I ended up catching 200 Pokemon. First mainline Pokemon game I played through since Yellow.
