I can confirm that "Xbox Kill the cat" does not work.

I'm guessing it is an extremely low percent, much lower than the PS4 issues which is most likely 4-5%. The 1% number is pure bs. I haven't personally heard of a single xbox issue from anyone I know, but had 6-7 people with bricked ps4's.

Well, my impulse purchase of the Xbox One is now being reversed. I put this one on a credit card while I paid for the PS4 off using Amazon credit. I just got excited when I saw it up for grabs and pulled the trigger using my Amazon card. We had JUST paid off all of our credit card debt and I can't stand for this to be there now. I'll dive back in in early spring, maybe around my birthday in May or so. Until then, you guys have a blast with it. I'll be back in the fold soon!

Call me wrong but to have to flip your $500 brand new console over and bang the shit out of it to fix an internal part is just wacky to me.

Not to sound paranoid but you have to wonder how many of the reports of Xbox One failures are coming from the PS4 fanboys who are reacting to all the "blue light of death" trolling that happened before the XBO launch. Kotaku acted like disparity in email volume indicated the Xbox problem was much longer but I honestly don't think you can count fanboyism out in this situation. And the Sony fanboys are certainly more fanatical.
I have 3 or 4 people on my friend list who have the Xbone and are playing with no problems. I haven't met a single person personally that has had one of the problems actually. Just a lot of unverifiable posts on places like Gamefaqs, many of which are from blatantly obvious Sony trolls.

People reporting bricked PS4's are 100% accurate! People reporting bricked Xbox One's must be Sony trolls!

I think it's amazing how Xbox is handling the problem. You can't beat getting a free launch game of your choice and not having to send the system back to them first before getting a working one. That is a lot better than how they dealt with the RROD and how PS4 has been taking care of their issues right now.

There doesn't seem to be any unbiased base of defects that credibly shows that the Xbox failures are more common than the Playstation ones yet there's a huge disparity in regards to things like message boards and emails that require no verification.
If I'm made to believe that either a bunch of Sony sheep sent Kotaku a bunch of emails or Microsoft shipped 5x more defective consoles than Sony I would believe the former.

The difference is that the Sony fans had to put up with people making fun of the blue line for a week before they had any chance to pounce on the Xbox errors, and there's no doubt in my mind that they were waiting. Look on the GAF forums. Look on Gamefaqs. We're talking about 20 emails vs 100 emails on million-unit launches, and emails sent to sites with global readership. Sites that are also frequented by these console partisan fanboy trolls who have their hilarious flame wars in the comments. And these sites are reporting these 120 emails like they mean something. That was literally a Kotaku article: a mailbox full of Xbox failure emails and they irresponsibly report that the problem was worse.

I don't believe in any conspiracy theory, and I believe both consoles had a good release.
But times have changed. Trolls are more vicious these days. Yes, there are more trolls these days, from both sites, that will post/email/etc. to make the other console look bad. And yes, you can say that it's been the same for years, and that technology makes it easier these days.

One of the first things reactions to the PS4 Blue Light, even in this forum, was that a large number of the reports had to be trolls and the issue wasn't widespread. I think its fair to guess the opposite might be true for the Xbox, although personally I don't think there are that many people trying to troll on either side just to make a stink on the internet (naive on my side, i'm sure).
Microsoft is definitely handling it really well though, pretty quickly saying "sorry it's an issue, here's how we'll make it right" versus Sony's more ambiguous responses. Customer service goes a long way, and i'm glad Microsoft is finally figuring that out.

I kid, and I know Sony's doing MUCH more than that. Please don't hurt me.
I also think both launches have gone quite well indeed, and both camps are going to do just fine. Trolls will be trolls.
I've been too busy playing games (and getting into car accidents) for the last week to care that I'm having 50% less fun than PS4 owners, but I'll be one of them in about four months, so then I'll be having 150% more fun than I am now.
