Though I suppose Insomniac isn't officially first party for MS yet, just in a partnership. So either or, considering we're talking about Tomb Raider first and foremost I guess I just thought it'd be obvious.
It's some sort of strategy either way. But it's more than 12 months off, really am curious to see how the console sales shape up by then.

I expect this to move at least twice as many systems as Bayonetta 2 moves Wii U's. So at least 8!

Everyone knows is a timed exclusive. Please.
The PC version will be ready like in two days, just a search and replace in the code. Yes, I'm exaggerating.
Microsoft did great. It will sell great for the Xbox One. Everyone loved the previous game. And CD can just follow the Uncharted formula, don't make big changes, just go bigger, and everyone should love the new game too.

This made me lol from Kaz Hirai:
Rise of the Tomb Raider is now exclusive to Xbox One. Square Enix clearly wants the game to be uncharted: as in, not entering the charts.

I really liked the last Tomb Raider, first one I've played in years. It got me interested in the franchise again, but definitely not enough to pick up an Xbox. If it doesn't change to a timed exclusive, I hope it works out well for the parties involved.

I already have an Xbone, but I love Tomb Raider enough that I would have bought one just to play it. That being said, I would have much preferred to play it on PS4.

Did no one game before the last two console generations? Third party exclusives were EVERYWHERE. There were hundreds of them.

It's not a personal attack, it's not a middle finger to consumers, it's a business deal. Sony pays a studio to make a game, shuts down studio when said game is released. No one says shit about that. Microsoft does it upfront gives the studio a guaranteed payday and it's meglocorporations raping the consumer and my rights and...
The previous game was given a ludicrous sales expectation. One it did not reach until the remastered version came out. Who's to say that Square Enix didn't put the same or higher sales expectation on this one? And deals were made to ensure people get paid? It sucks for people who can only afford a PS4 and have decided that's their system, but that's video games. Always has been.

Apparently exclusives work out for the studios, but I would have thought that these days, it would be best to get your games in front of as many players as possible.

All I'm saying is, gross # of sales is never the only reason to make business decisions, and if that's the ONLY goal, why isn't every single game coming out on Wii U?

guys guys guys!
You can all relax. Some insider (probably the one who told us Titanfall was coming to PS4) on NeoGAF says this is a timed exclusive, so of course, there's nothing to worry about because they said so. PS4 owners will get it (just like Titanfall, right?) sometime in 2019.

If this proves only to be a times release, then I'm cool with this. I can wait a while before I play the next game.
But either way CD has got to try and get their money, and while I would rather see a cross platform release at launch, I'm not going to fault this developer for doing what they think makes the most financial sense for them. It's a bummer, sure, but it's just a bummer. The extreme fan reaction is silly though. All this talk about boycotting and stuff? C'mon son.

If you're Sony, and Uncharted 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider are coming out around the same time (holiday 2015), which of these two very similar games are you going to promote and push onto your customers?
Again, sales numbers aren't the only reason these decisions are made, but maybe these guys made a projection based on the above (like normal businesses do), and decided that taking MS's 747 full of money made more business sense than appeasing the small number of PS4 owners who were going to buy TR, or the the even smaller number of PS4 owners who were going to buy both U4 and TR.
PS: Someone needs to provide a picture of a 747 with cash flowing out of it.
edit: I'm just speculating because it's kind of fun.
