I'm quite content with this Souls release despite a few technical problems they need to fix. On the other hand, I don't care one bit about another COD release that will surely please the masses. I agree that most of the games that the PSN has given away have been indies and I haven't played a one of them in quite some time. I do lock in the free purchase and will see if I ever get the time or desire to try them out. However, I've got my hands full with the games that I have invested my hard earned money in.

As far as I know, the system won't recognize anything larger than a 2TB HD.

Interesting...I thought I saw where that last update had something in it about the system now recognizes 4TB drives. I need to research that again.

Oh no doubt, the price isn't an issue for me if it's something I'll enjoy. Free is Free but that doesn't mean I'm going to actually play the game.

Everybody has their own titles that pull em in, for some people it's Call of Duty, for others it's Elder Scrolls or Fallout (neither of which I can get into, which sucks because I love Fallout 1 and 2), for others it's Candy Crush Saga. For me, the most recent one has been Bloodborne, though I am enjoying Dark Souls 3.

The most recent 3.5 firmware upgrade removed that restriction and allowed for hard drives up to 4TB to work fine with no issues now.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Yep...I found something but there is a slight catch.....

PS4 firmware 3.50 quietly adds support for 4TB hard drives

http://www.rocketnews.com/2016/04/ps...b-hard-drives/

Upgrading the standard 500GB hard drive included with the PS4 is easy, and the move to a faster and larger 2TB drive does future proof your console for a while. But 2TB isn’t exactly huge. Now it seems Sony has quietly introduced support for larger drives in the latest 3.50 firmware update.

According to Reddit, installing the new firmware allows your PS4 to detect up to 4TB hard drives properly. There’s just one minor issue with this support for more storage: there’s currently no 4TB drives using the 2.5-inch form factor that fit inside the PS4. The internal drive can be no more than 9.5mm thick, so while 4TB 2.5-inch hard drives do exist, they are 15mm thick. So you can’t buy a 4TB drive that will fit inside the standard PS4 case (yet).

I just hope the new PS4 Neo allows the use of external USB hard drives like the Xbox One. It is a much better solution than having to replace the internal! I can get a 6TB drive for $130. Plug 2 of those into my Xbox One and get 12.5TB of Storage with no effort at all...

It would be one thing if they were more interesting Indie titles, as I liked the big ones like Guacamelee or Super Time Force that have made it to both - the stuff the last few months I don't care for at all (except maybe Helldivers). Beyond that, i'd rather play stuff I missed

I agree. I really don't see why indies have become so popular. Sure, some of them are great, but most are not.

I would much rather play a huge retail release with great graphics and a great story. (Fallout 4, Witcher, Halo, Bloodborne)

That's the one "thorn" I have against the PS4,,,,the use of an external drive. Right now that external box that sits on top made by ?????....where you can use a 3.5 drive might be the best option. The bigger housing to me allows a bit better cooling. Long term I don't see how technology can put anymore TB in such a small thin housing with the platter size being restricted to the housing itself. I might look at that gizmo again but the kicker is you really need to keep that SATA connection...at least with better data transfer with apps.

I know this really isn't related to PS4 titles as such, but holy shit Sega. Do something with your back catalog. Give me Soul Calibur as a downloadable title. Get to work on that Dreamcast stuff, fuck.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I got curious about Rime and decided to see if there was anything new about a potential release date. Good news and bad news.

Good; the developers bought back the rights to the game so it will probably be multiplatform. Bad; Sony is rumored to have dropped them due to lack of progress. i.e. no release date in sight.

Trailer for those that have forgotten the announcement from two years ago:

Is there somewhere I can find a list of f2p games on PS4? My PS4 will be here Tuesday, but I don't get paid till the 1st, so I can't renew my PS Plus till then. I know of DCUO, and Warframe, but are there any others?

I guess GT Sport is going to be a full price retail release. I thought it was going to be like GT5 prologue and hold us over until a full GT 7, but I guess not. $60 for regular version and $70 for a steelbook LE. Coming out 11/15.

Spoiler:
The Gran Turismo SPORT: Limited Edition includes: GT SPORT Game Disc and Collectible Steelbook Case
GT Starter Pack (8 Cars) - Gain immediate access to cars within various race class, including GT4, Rally and more
$1MM In-Game Credit - Build and customize your personalized garage with $1MM in-game currency
Livery Sticker Pack - Bonus livery of numerous performance brands and logos
30x PS4 GT Sport Themed Avatars - Based on selected GT Sport featured vehicles; Racing Helmet - For your customized driver profile

If you have a Rift/Vive/Cardboard/ViewMaster/etc; this is a pretty cool little trailer (especially with headphones), hope it's what to come w/ PS4 VR.

For some reason, embedded it defaults to an odd version of 3D. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBEtUnr38do

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I received an Uncharted 4 PS4 for my birthday yesterday (thanks wife!), so I guess I can finally start getting into these things.

General settings on the PS4, anything I need to know to enhance my life?
