I wonder how many hours/days it would take to backup nearly a tb of information? Whenever I copy my school data over to a usb at the end of the year it takes an hour or two to copy between 25-30 gbs of data.

If you use a USB 3.0, it would probably take a couple hours. I noticed a huge difference when I swapped between the two.

Okay you all convinced me.

Now can you recommend any specific hard drives that are compatible with the PS4? I guess I would want a 2TB drive to give myself some breathing room. I don't want anything too expensive. Under $100 preferably.

I put the Seagate 1TB Hybrid version in almost a year ago based on several reviews and tests using the normal, hybrid and SS drives. At the time the SS drives were just coming out and still commanding a high price. There might be better deals (prices) but I didn't see a 2TB Hybrid version and the WD's seem to be going for $120+. Seems several reviewers put this in their PS4.

I ordered this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o04_s00

If you are careful removing the hard drive from the case, you can reuse the case to store the 500GB drive from your PS4. I didn't really feel like doing that (since it's held together with a weak adhesive), so I ordered this external USB 3.0 enclosure, which is now hooked up to my XB1:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o03_s00

So for $90, I got a 2TB hard drive in my PS4 and a 500GB external drive for my XB1. Made me happy

I didn't want to mess with opening up an external (and voiding the manufacturer warranty ) so I bought this instead.

It's worked great for me

Can't remember this ever being posted. There is an extension that will allow you to search and organize your download list. Really nice when you have 400 items in your list for 4 different systems.

Until Dawn reviews are out, the game seems like its fun. It doesn't seem to be getting much press/advertising though.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I'm really interested in Until Dawn, but because of the type of game it is and with as quickly as Sony's first party games have been plummeting in price, I'm a little reluctant to pull the trigger at $60 (or, well, $48 + tax with GCU). I just figure it'll be half that before the year's out. We'll see how impulsive I get.

There is a bonus chapter included as a pre-order bonus for Until Dawn. I went ahead and pre-ordered it.

Submerged PS4 Release Date Announced, PlayStation Plus Members Save 20% at Launch

Revealed in April, Submerged from Uppercut Games is coming to the PlayStation 4 on August 4 in North America and August 5 in Europe. A price wasn’t announced, but PlayStation Plus members will receive 20% at launch.

A combat-free third-person game, Submerged sees you playing as Miku, a young girl who has brought her wounded brother to a mysterious, flooded city in their small fishing boat. As Ed Orman of Uppercut adds:

Navigate the flooded city streets by boat, scale the drowned buildings, and use your telescope to scour the city for the supplies needed to save your dying sibling. As you explore the city at your own pace, you encounter the habitat that flourishes in this colorful place and discover hidden objects that piece together the story of a broken world and a broken family.

It's nice to look at, and there is a story that's unfolding, but it is kinda boring and I don't know if we'll last long enough to get to that story.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

This new sub-genre of "explore and piece together what happened" games of which it seems Submerged belongs (along with Everyone's Gone To The Rapture, Gone Home, Wander and Dear Esther) don't appeal to me at all. Might be a personal thing -- I could roll with it in a movie maybe, but wandering around without a clear purpose does absolutely nothing for me in a game.
You can just imagine how happy I am that Grow Home won the Vote To Play contest this month for PS Plus.

It's like a 10 hour game. You can rent it from Redbox this weekend and play through it overnight. I'm hoping Gamefly ships me a copy soon or I'll do the same.

The genre is called "graphic adventure game" and it is not a new genre at all. Graphic adventure games have been around since the 1980s.

Some of the earliest graphic adventure games were the SCUMM engine games like Maniac Mansion and the Monkey Island series in the 1980s.

Myst was an extremely popular graphic adventure game in the very early 1990s.

Leisure Suit Larry was another popular series of graphic adventure games in the 80s and 90s.

Grim Fandango is a graphic adventure game from 1998 that recently got "remastered" on the PS4.

There is a new graphic adventure game just released called King's Quest which is a reboot of the the King's Quest series which began in the 1980s as well.

Then before the "graphic adventure game" there were "text adventure games" like Zork in the 1970s. Basically, the genre has existed as long as video games themselves have existed.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Leisure Suit Larry, Grim Fandango and King's Quest all have clear and obvious goals. They weren't "wander around and try to figure out why there's nobody to interact with" type of games. I played all three of those games and loved them all.

Myst might be that kind of game. I fucking hated Myst.

That's probably my favorite type of game nowdays. Everyone's Gone to the Rapture is my #1 game of the year so far.

Most videogame developers and journalists have settled on "first-person exploration" as the term for that genre of games. I love them, personally. Many more coming up in the near future as well.

FWIW...a demo is out for Dying Light today for the PS4, XO and PC. Not sure how much but this has been a real surprise playing it both SP and co-op; and one of the better looking PS4 games as well.

Speaking of how much I dislike the genre, who wouldn't want a :

Free Everybody's Gone To The Rapture PS4 Theme

Go to the official site, enter the security word "Yaughton" and an email address. They will generate a code you can redeem on your PS4 or the website for a free dynamic theme. Offer for one week or while supplies last.

Armello gameplay starts around 25:00. Looks awesome. I hate each and every one of you who voted for Grow Home instead of this.

None of those games do anything to get me excited about PAX.
