Re: RYSE: The Gloriously Official 900p Exclusive Thread (Xbox One)
Sony and Microsoft are trying to minimize or outright eliminate the losses they'd taken on new consoles in the past. I don't know if this is still the case, but Microsoft said that they'd break even or make a tiny profit on each Xbox One console sold, and Sony said their loss per console wouldn't be anywhere near as large as it was with the PS3. To control their costs, they can't push the envelope quite so far. The consoles are still mighty powerful for the money, though.

...also many 2005 pcs were more powerful than PS3 or Xbox 360.

Let's guess some scores. 9/10 from Official Xbox Magazine. 3/10 from Official Playstation Magazine. And 5/10 Trojan condoms from Maxim magazine.

I tried it during that Xbox One tour they're doing. They were only demoing the co-op arena mode, but it was pretty bland and not terribly fun to play.

Really? The Geforce 7000 series was in 2005, and the Xbox 360 has basically the equivalent of a 7800 video card.
The 8800 GTX the following year is when PCs started to pass consoles.
Crysis then came out in 2007 and it was well beyond the capabilities of the consoles.
You get to fight Jesus mounted on a dinosaur, because you know Jesus rode dinosaurs.
There are also gladiator fights in the Colosseum where you get to fight against raptors and T-Rexes.
I hope that the final boss of the game is a master dog.

To note, the 7800 GTX was released in June of 2005 (with the more reasonable GT edition released in August), several months prior to the Xbox 360. The 7800 GT could run Doom 3 in Ultra High Quality with 4x AA at 720p at roughly 85 fps.

Yes, god forbid we have a negative opinion and post about it. Let's all just post only positive comments!
This whole "thread crapping" thing has gotten out of hand. Unless it's in someones "For Sale" thread, it shouldn't be considered thread crapping.

I relate it to what I was able to run in 2005, considering Far Cry, Doom 3 and Half Life 2 came out in 2004 and never hit particularly impressive releases on the Xbox 360. I certainly had no issue running any of those in 720p with relatively high settings back then.

I think part of the reason those games never got good console ports is because back then developers didn't really know how to optimize the hardware very well. Some console games released in the last few years, such as The Last of Us, are much more impressive than Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 or Far Cry. It just takes a while for developers to learn how to use the hardware to its fullest. The most impressive games generally come at the end of a console's lifecycle.
Crysis on the other hand could never run properly in the Xbox 360 or PS3. I know it got a rather crappy port anyway, but that game was just so advanced for its time that we are just now getting PCs that can max it out and still run at 60 fps.
If someone creates a Superman 64 thread, we can only say positive things about it. Saying it was the worst game of all time, despite being the truth, would be threadcrapping.

Sorry, internet, I just didn't see the point of starting a thread to do nothing but talk about how bad this game may be. Especially considering no one has even played the game. But by all means internet, flame on.

My username comes from the Thief video game series. "Taff" is just used as a generic swear word, kind of like a "beep" censor but more funny.
For example, a character in Thief could say something like, "Taff you, you taffing mothertaffer."
